To not want DC's birthday hijacked?

Youngest DC's birthday next month. Have organised an activity and meal with closest friends at the weekend but actual birthday is mid-week. Planned to take them for a meal after school (their choice) with any family members that want to come.

One family member is dog sitting that week, so is now demanding that the venue be dog friendly. DC of course doesn't understand that and wants to go where they want to go. Another family member has suggested hosting a party for them at their house (30 miles from where we live). I just want DC to have what they want on their birthday.

AIBU to tell them to fuck off, do our own thing and let them like it or lump it?

(I'm actually grateful for the IL's utter disinterest in DC at times like this!)

YANBU - tell them thanks for the suggestions but ds really wants to go to X. Tell them you'll understand if they can't make it.

Surely "dog sitting" means being around for most of the time and particularly overnight for the dog, it doesn't mean bringing the dog to parties?!

They don't live here and are selflessly bringing the dog here to be around for DC's birthday (and staying with the other relative that wants to host the party at theirs). Apparently the dog can't be left in strange places for the amount of time it would take them to travel 30 miles, eat dinner then travel back.

YANBU. I might almost have considered it if dc was young enough not to realise it was their birthday but not if they've actually requested a location. Bonkers behaviour from both family members.
