To think you shouldn't smoke in the playground?

So, the village hall has a small park with a few swings, a couple of slides and a seesaw for kids of varying ages. There are 3 benches dotted around the area as well. When I took dd (16m) there today, there was a man sat on the bench next to the baby swings happily puffing away. His ds and a friend of his dis were playing as well. I understand it's a public place and he can do what he wants, but is it a little inappropriate to smoke next to infant swings in a busy park?

Of course you shouldn't. So inconsiderate.

I thought it was illegal to smoke in children's play grounds.

Thought this was going to be about the school playground

I don't think it's illegal but someone did start a petition recently to try and make it so... it doesn't have many signatures yet.

Disgusting man- like, harm your own health with your cancer sticks but don't inflict upon others. Hate smokers- sorry if I offend anyone but most smokers are the most inconsiderate people ever- they never ask if others are happy for them to light up and they STINK!!!!

@NorthernParent68 Affected me because I couldn't put my dd on the toddler swings which she absolutely loves.

Well, I could have. But I chose to keep her on the other side of the play area away from the smoke.

Oh this really annoys me. There is a sign saying no smoking by the entrance (it's quite small and easily missed admittedly) but you'd like to think not smoking around small children was common sense!
