To think skinned toes mean shoes don't fit?

DD(5) has been wears her new startrite school shoes since last Monday. She complained about them hurting today and I saw that oval patches of skin just under 1cm across had rubbed off the top of both little toes, and a smaller bit off a big toe. DH took her back to the shop and they said they fitted. I got DH to (politely!) insist on a refund since it seemed clear to me that they can't possibly have fitted. WABU?

Not at all. The toebox shouldn't be touching her toes at all really, they are much too tight (narrow) if they are rubbing bits of skin off! Your poor DD, that really does hurt

Yanbu.

Childrens foot development is something you cant put a price on or afford to make mistakes with.

Thanks! I was a bit taken aback when she insisted they did fit and wondered if I could have been overreacting.
