To really hate it when people start AIBU's with 'to ask'

More specifically, things like "AIBU to ask if any of you (insert blank) You are basically asking if you're being unreasonable to ASK, not AIBU over the actual problem. I am fully prepared to be told I am BU and people can start their threads as they wish, but it's just a mumsnet pet hate of mine.

YABU

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 09/09/2016 16:36

Irritates the living shit out of me, I'd rather people were more honest and put "posting here for traffic".

But I've got a headache and I'm feeling a bit crotchety today.

Queenbean · 09/09/2016 16:39

I agree

I hate ones which are like "AIBU to donate money that I can well afford to charity?" HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLY BE UNREASONABLE AND WHY WOULD ANYONE TELL YOU YOU WERE

Ego147 · 09/09/2016 16:39

Totally agree. I would love to see someone answer the actual AIBU. No one is ever unreasonable to ask a question.

Are they?

Ego147 · 09/09/2016 16:42

But AYBU to really hate it?

Lucydogz · 09/09/2016 16:51

Totally agree.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 09/09/2016 16:52

Frankly MN should either bin the AIBU section or make the whole site one big AIBU

wasonthelist · 09/09/2016 16:57

Yabu

ButIbeingpoor · 09/09/2016 17:27

Don't get the issue. So YABU or I'm a bit thick.

RestlessTraveller · 09/09/2016 19:27

I did this the other day because...

  1. AIBU is the bit that I'm on the most
  2. I needed a quick answer
  3. I knew I'd get the most direct advice
  4. There is no forum pertinent to the question I was asking
  5. I actually don't give a fuck if it bothers you. If you don't like it don't click on it.
BewtySkoolDropowt · 09/09/2016 19:30

YANBU. I am always tempted to answer the AIBU question rather than the question they are asking IYSWIM

EnquiringMingeWantsToKnow · 09/09/2016 19:33

It's annoying, but not as nails on a blackboard awful as "AIBU that my DH didn't empty the bins" or similar which is just gibberish.

viques · 09/09/2016 19:34

Don't get me started on 'recommend me'.

mixety · 09/09/2016 19:37

I hate threads that start 'Talk to me about...'

They make me feel the same way as when people say 'and then he turned around and said....'

He so did not turn around.

And don't order people to talk to you.

YWBU not to title this thread "To ask if I'm the only one who gets annoyed by AIBU threads starting with "To ask..." Smile
