Fertility treatment

Hi all,

First post and I am already being unreasonable posting here but with a previous account I had no luck in the specialist boards.

I am currently receiving fertility treatment for PCOS. I am now mid way through my 4th clomid cycle (150mg) and last pregnancy resulted in a chemical pregnancy. I didn't ovulate on first two cycles. I have a follicle tracking scan next Friday (seems like years away) and dr has "set aside some extra time to discuss". Wish I'd asked at the time but now I'm wondering what she'll say. Does anyone have any similar experiences and what happened after clomid? I don't believe you can take clomid indefinitely? I asked dr if clomid eventually reduces your chances and she said I need the clomid and that this isn't the case.

I don't have any advice or experience (I do have PCOS but haven't had fertility treatment), but you might find luck over on the Infertility board.

I took clomid. I didn't get pregnant on it and the side effects were horrible. I was glad to come off it. We didn't carry on with fertility treatment due to circumstances. I eventually got pregnant without any medical help. Not sure what else to tell you but happy to answer any questions if I can (and can remember, it was years ago now).

I took Clomid. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. The difference seemed to be the day I started taking it (was told day 5 initially, but day 1 worked much better).
The specialist I saw told me that if Clomid is going to work it will usually be in the first 3 or 4 cycles, so they may just want to try another medication.
You shouldn't take Clomid indefinitely. There is a suggestion that long term use increases risk of ovarian cancer, but I'm not sure how much evidence there is. But more to the point, why would you carry on with a therapy that isn't working for you?
