Hi all,
2 yr old woke up with a rash on her chest and belly yesterday that looked like red sploges. I thought it might be hives but it's not itchy and I can't think of anything she might have come into contact with to cause it.
Anyway, she has woken up today and it's still there but looks a bit more spotty. She has had a mild cold for a few days but it otherwise fine in herself.
I wouldn't normally worry about it except I'm being induced tomorrow morning and in worried on the off chance it might be something contagious.

Do you think I'm being a worrier or should I try to get a gp appointment?

If it puts your mind at rest go see a GP (but don't sit in the waiting room if you think it might be contagious£

Did she have a heralds patch?

It definitely looks like a rash. (unhelpful - sorry)

I was going to ask if it was a sweat rash maybe, but the second pic looks quite like proper spots.

Under the circ's i'd have a GP take a look. Can anyone else take her? To save you hanging about at the docs?

Have you tried anti-histamines?

I've got sensitive skin and it looks like the sort of rash I get when I use shampoo/bubble bath that I shouldn't use, but it doesn't sound like it as it's very, very dry and itchy.

It also looks like the rash DS had when he had a bad cold last winter. The GP took a look and said it was a virus and it would go away in a week which it did.

I'm sure it's fine, as she doesn't sound poorly, but I would probably get it checked out, especially under the circumstances.

Ditto I am sure it's fine but I would personally check with GP (they might offer you the practise nurse.) Or pharmacist? I did both when DD came up in a magically disappearing reappearing rash and DM thought I was wasting everyone's time but it was worth it for a relaxed mother. and less you have to worry about the better! Hives come and go, they do not stay in one area and they are usually very itchy.
It could be a viral rash esp as your dd has been unwell.

Looks and sounds exactly like the rash my 3yo DS has at the moment. I took him to a walk in centre and they said it was viral and nothing to worry about. Give antihistamine if it gets itchy. It's probably nothing to worry about but yes go and see gp or wic to put your mind at ease. With rashes in kids it's better to be safe than sorry

Google pitryasis rosea and see if you think it fits that. Looks similar rash to what DS (6) had recently. Though obviously best to get GP advice if you're unsure or concerned.

I would say call the doctors and say you need a phone call urgently as you're about to be induced. There's absolutely no way of knowing what it is, but as you're about to give birth I think it's important to get to the bottom of it quickly

Have you given piriton to see if that makes a difference? I would try that first.

Standard GP stuff. No good doctor should mind seeing this to put your mind at rest.
Looks like pityriasis rosea or non specific viral rash but see your GP for reassurance.

My dd was admitted to hospital with a similar rash earlier this year. She also had a sky high temp and the specialists all decided she was having an urticaria reaction to the high temp and the virus.

If she hasn't got a temperature and she isn't scratching then chances are she has got over heated in bed and has a severe heat rash. I would give some piriton and see how it goes in an hour

I've managed to get a cancellation appointment for 3pm so I will let you know how we get on.
Feel a bit daft taking her to the doctors when she seems other wise well but with a newborn on the way, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Back from the doctors and he said it's just an allergy. So nothing serious but confirmed I did the right thing going to see him in the circumstances.
