To use futon base with mattress as our bed?

I have had it with our fancy framed bed with old-ish mattress. Years ago I had a simple futon base with a good quality mattress on top of it. I remember this as being really comfy, but I was younger then.

Why would this possibly make you unreasonable?

Is it mean to make my husband sleep on this.

Is it a really bad bed choice?

As long as it's got a good mattress then why not? I quite like sleeping on a low bed for some reason.

My sympathies, OP YANBU to try...but as I get older (and I'm only 30) I get increasingly picky and fussy about beds/chairs/sofas and previously comfy beds make me wake up in pain and barely able to move. When I was at uni, I slept in a single bed with my now DH for 2 years And now I just spent £££ on a memory foam mattres which I am praying is as good as they say it is...

Well what does your husband think. Have you spoken to him about it.

If he says yes it's fine, then it's fine

If he says no, then it's time to rethink

Well many moons ago I dated a guy for seven months who lived in a squat was a struggling poet with a flat to match

He slept on a mattress on the floor and I spent plenty of nights there with no complaint...

But then I was 22 and now I'd probably like an actual bed frame!

If it works for you go for it but just remember that what works in your early 20s is not always comfy 10 years later!

I spent six months sleeping on an air bed with a slow puncture so woke up on it deflated every morning. Sounds great to me!

I've had this set up, it's super comfy and for some reason I always feel comforted sleeping closer to the floor....

From experience, downsides are no under bed storage (obviously), no headboard of any description for sitting up in bed or hanging/balancing stuff on, and if you are getting on at all (or just have dodgey joints!) getting out of bed from so low to standing can be hard on the knees and back!

Get a simple bed frame to replace the fancy one. Unless you fall out of bed often, I can't see any advantage to having a futon.

Good point about not being able to sit up comfortably, and what would you use as a bedside table?

Well, we are not old but not young, certainly a decade past early twenties.

I was thinking of buying an expensive mattress to make it more grown up.

Our bed frame with header and footer is annoying me.

Not sure what other people have. I have read a few threads but most people seem to be spending upwards of 1.5k which I just don't have, nor the time to go trailing bed shops etc.

Lol to the no tent person, likewise I have had many of my best sleeps while younger on the floor after parties. Oh aged bones!
