What time does your 14 year old (year 10) child go to bed?
Dd 1's school bedtime has been 9. 30 for a couple of years and is angling for 10. 00. She asked me earlier and I said I would speak to dh. But she got to him before I did and he said no way, without discussion. I actually feel that she could have that extra 30 mins. She is a good, sensible girl, ery level headed, although prone to being hormonal as we all are.
So do you think dh is being unreasonable and dd should have her extra time? She isn't really asking for a lot.

Maybe a compromise to a later night on a Fri and Sat?

Dh is 14 and because she takes on responsibility in the house, and her grades are up, she currently doesn't have a bed time. She's usually tucked in asleep by 10:30 though. So 10 is about right.

My 14yo is about to go into Yr10 and its just been agreed a 10pm lights out from new term. (Has been 9.30 for last couple of years)

The way I see it, whatever time they go to bed, they still have to get up same time in the morning, at 14 they can decide themselves if they need an earlier night occasionally
No technology mind usually means boredom so they will be asleep at a relatively good time anyway!

DD just going into year 9 goes at 10pm and still manages to get up and be cheerful at 6.45 in the morning.

Exactly OnlytheWelsh - mine has to leave her phone with me before she goes up, so she only really stays up if she needs to meet a deadline, or for revision.

I think 10 is fine.

It depends how much sleep she needs, and when she wakes up. DS1 always woke up at 5, no matter what time he went to bed, so he went to bed at 8.

10 is fine IMO. You've got a pretty good teen if she asks at 14 tbh and if there are no issues I'd say yes. Or at least "let's see how it goes"
