I would read that and immediately look for the Onion banner - or the Daily Mash.
Pathetic attention seeking and virtue signalling from the author of that piece.

Now I feel bad.

My cat has a pink cat toy. Not because it is pink, but because it was the only colour available in the toy I wanted.

Now I feel I have inexcusably subscribed to gender stereotyping my cat, because she is female.

Has anyone got the number of a good kitty psychologist?

I chose to fall back on my cis-gender privilege (look it up) and used the singular pronoun for Essence. I understood that wouldn’t have been so easy if I were the patient — or if Essence were human.

If you were the patient wouldn't you just say 'I'? [confused?

Or could you not say "Essence is ill" to your confused friends?
