To think there's only one sort of flip chart?

I emailed a colleague:

'Do we have a flip chart in the office?'

She replied:

'If you mean the paper one with a stand, then yes, we have a few'.

Are there any other types of flip charts? (confused)

Perhaps she is used to people asking for a flipchart and meaning something else like a whiteboard? That's the only explanation I can think of!

Are you physically in the same office as her, and are there any standing around? Because my first thought would be that her response seems a bit sarcastic (but maybe that's just because my colleagues are a sarcastic bunch!)

YY to people asking for things by another name. Happens all the time where I work, have learned the hard way to ask them to confirm exactly what they want, even though they then treat me like an idiot. It's better than the abuse for "getting it wrong" Hmm

Off the top of my head I can think of a pad of plain paper which fits onto a stand and the pad of 'giant PostIts' which can be stuck (temporarily) to really any surface. So you might have been asking for the pad of large postits, or a pad of plain flipchart paper, or the combination of pad and stand.

NBU to asked a bit more detail, but then I often get in trouble for asking for specifics......
