to wonder what dh is up to?

Dh announced earlier that he would need to pop out at 7pm. I asked what for, he said to pick up something for BIL. I asked what he was picking up. An extendable hedge trimmer apparently.
All very well and good but BIL lives over an hour away and we have no plans to see him anytime soon. In fact it's a bit of an annoyance as we want to go see them but they're holding us off for whatever reason. So added up it doesn't make any sense why he would go and do this favour.

I didn't push it on the off chance he is doing something nice for me. Am I being naive?

We're generally a happy couple, a few arguments here and there but mostly good times.

Sounds like you are over thinking it

Maybe BiL is the only one with the hedge trimmers?

bitsussdh · 25/08/2016 19:26

But why can't BIL buy his own hedge trimmers closer to where he lives? It doesn't make sense to ask someone who you rarely see to go buy you something you could easily buy yourself.

Do you usually give DG the Spanish inquisition if he pops out? Hmm

If you are that bothered message your BIL and see if he story 'checks out'

Chill, OP, unless he's strayed before or given you reasons to think he's straying then you are completely over thinking it. Surely he'd come up with a better lie if he was lying because you can just ask BIL to confirm it.

ICanTuckMyBoobsInMyPockets · 25/08/2016 19:28

Maybe BIL bought it from eBay or gumtree and your DH will just hang onto then until next time you see him.

acasualobserver · 25/08/2016 19:31

This is why you need Find My Friends switched on.

bitsussdh · 25/08/2016 19:31

I do sound a bit much don't I. I'm usually very chilled but I know him so well I can tell his lying voice a mile off. Very vague and on the spot thinking.

Can't ask BIL as he will tell dsis who is a nosy cow and looks for the smallest of reasons to dislike dh.

I also immediately thought of ebay/gumtree. Maybe BIL found some at a decent price near to you so thought it'd be easier to get your DH to collect them.

Don't overthink it too much - who knows, maybe he is arranging a surprise for you Smile

Mausageandsash · 25/08/2016 19:41

Don't worry about it he's probably doing something special for youSmile X

Hassled · 25/08/2016 19:56

:o at "his lying voice" - I do know exactly what you mean.

What does he do that you don't like? Is there a friend you hate? A hobby that irritates you? What would he choose to lie about?

DamaskRose · 25/08/2016 20:10

Sounds puzzling rather than suspect. If he's lying, hope it's due to cooking up some nice surprise

Soubriquet · 25/08/2016 20:15

My dh has a lying face as opposed to a voice

thesnailandthewhale · 25/08/2016 20:18

Is it your birthday soon op? Could he be shopping for that or arranging a surprise for it??

NapQueen · 25/08/2016 20:21

Well they same female intuition is sound so if this is setting your whiskers alert then I'd trust that.

When he gets back just say "I've text BIL to arrange a meet up for next weekend anyways so we can give him the hedge trimmer then"

thelostboy · 25/08/2016 21:27

Hedge trimmers on special offer at Aldi today. Possibly connected?

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 25/08/2016 21:40

My dad would think nothing of sending relatives off to Aldi/lidl/Argos to collect a bargain purchase.
