To think I don't need to go to A & E ?

DH thinks I need to go to the emergency room .

I think my symptoms don't warrant a trip to a & e , plus I can't be arsed to sit and wait for hours on end .

I've been having heart palpitations pretty much constantly for two days. It settles but then starts up again when I move about or stand / walk .

My heart rate when measured periodically has been anywhere between 90 to 125 bpm at rest or when standing / walking .

I only had a few hours sleep last night as the constant palpitations kept me awake and I also felt dizzy lying down .

I feel slightly unwell because of the regular shortness of breath and heart Palps but not actually poorly if that makes sense .

Knowing me , I'll rock up at a & e and I'll be totally fine

He is right. To be blunt better to have a wasted few hours at a&e than not wake up in the morning.

It does sound quite worrying and you definitely need further investigation. I'm not sure if it's an emergency though

Anything heart/shortness of breath related and I would probably go to A&E to be honest. But I am at the 'worrier' end of the scale! At the very least would go to GP in the morning

Shortness of breath and heart palpitations are definitely an emergency.

I would want to get this checked out, and I'm pretty sure if you rang 111 they'd want you to go to A&E.

I'm a big fan of the home-care stuff that means you don't waste valuable A&E time; the DCs don't get whisked there for every bump and scrape like friends DCs. But this is not run of the mill stuff; go and get checked over, please.

If palpitations are unusual for you then I'd be making arrangements to see a medical professional sooner rather than later. Nobody here can assure you that your heart palpitations are harmless. They can be innocent or they can be a symptom of something more serious. Hope you're ok op

The thing is you can't know whether it's an emergency unless you get it checked out. And if it is an emergency it's likely to be serious. You should go to a & e. What you'll you say if it was your Dh?

At the least I would ring out of hours for advice.

Sounds like you've got A-fib. Worst case scenario it can lead to a stroke. You need to be checked out. I'd go if I were you.

Though palpitations are a variation of a normal heartbeat, it's not normal for many to occur out of the blue. That, coupled with a relatively high heart rate, does indeed warrant a trip to A & E.

What is your heart rate when you have palpitations?

You are better trying to capture whatever is going on by having an ECG done when you are actually having symptoms.
And, btw, you will NOT be waiting 'hours' when you rock up with what could be serious cardiac problems.

I have A-Fib. You need to go to A&E to get checked over and given meds. You will sleep much better tomorrow, I promise you. I lead a normal life with A-fib, just got to exercise more, eat less junk and salt. You have the symptoms.

I'm resting now but it's 98 .

If you phone 111 for any chest pain or palpitations, they will automatically send you an ambulance.

So either do that, or get someone to drive you there.
