I am opening a salon soon. I can't hang art on the walls easily as they are all concrete, and the premises is rented, so I am looking at wall decals as the walls are plain white and I need something to break them up.

What would you think if you went into a salon and they had one or more of these on the wall?

I LOVE Seuss, but I wonder if people would see it as naff/daft/childish, so maybe I should stick with the more 'normal' one?

Maybe the middle one but the other two are so cheesy! The first one is awful Grin

Congratulations on getting your own Salon and good luck with it Flowers

MrHannahSnell · 17/08/2016 10:46

Avoid Seuss at all costs. I like the style of writing in the first one and think you'd be better off with that. Seuss is for a nursery.

LaurieFairyCake · 17/08/2016 10:46

I'd think you were a very 'edgy' salon (hair?) if you had the Seuss quotes. The ordinary beauty ones are more generic.

I can't say I'm keen on either though. You can get murals of plants/trees that might be more relaxing?

HelloConfidenceAreYouThere · 17/08/2016 10:46

Agree with pp, the middle one would make me smile, first one is very cheesey. Not keen on the last one either.

Good luck!

Squirmy65ghyg · 17/08/2016 10:47

Only the first one, the other 2 look the opposite of relaxung. If you can find them in a more elegant style fair enough.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 17/08/2016 10:48

I like the second two but the first one is a bit naff.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 17/08/2016 10:49

But then I am a Primary school teacher...

apatheticfallacy · 17/08/2016 10:49

Congratulations on the salon! What kind of 'look' are you going for? Fun and quirky? Glamorous?

To be completely honest I think wall decals have had their day and it'll look dated very shortly. I'd have a look on Pinterest for other ideas, but as an example I saw a beautiful wall in a Laura Ashley magazine a while ago, they'd dried lots of red roses and hung them on fishing lines at different to make a kind of curtain of roses to cover a bare white wall. It looked great and could easily be replicated without permanently changing the wall itself

Only1scoop · 17/08/2016 10:50

Congratulations on your Salon

I really dislike this kind of curly writing sloganny drivel, sorry.

The second two would be quite nice in a kids space.

BewtySkoolDropowt · 17/08/2016 10:58

Thank you.

I'm going for simple. The colours are white, grey and purple, and I want an uncluttered, simple look - but bare white walls are a step too far!

To be absolutely honest - the responses are pretty much exactly what I expected. I would prefer something that isn't wall stickers, but it will be by far the most straightforward thing to do. I'm going to have a google to see if I can find other inspiration!

I do like the sound of the rose wall, but not for this space I don't think.

Thank you all for relying, I do appreciate it!

I like all of them but particularly the style of the first one. Good luck

RosieandJim89 · 17/08/2016 11:03

I hate the first one. I find all things like that beyond cheesy and rather cringeworthy. I quite like the second.

IceRoadDucker · 17/08/2016 11:25

Definitely the first one.

BewtySkoolDropowt · 17/08/2016 11:57

I think this one might be better?

What about a set of pictures instead?

Writerwannabe83 · 17/08/2016 12:06

I'd it a Beauty/Hair Salon?

I would just find it odd if a wall sign was stating that to be yourself is to be beautiful, yet the whole purpose of beauty/hair salons is for the clients to somehow change their appearance in some way? Grin

flanjabelle · 17/08/2016 12:18

The chanel one is best by far.

BewtySkoolDropowt · 17/08/2016 12:20

Pictures are tricky as the walls are concrete and the premises rented, otherwise that would be the route I was talking.

Writer, do you think so? I think that being yourself is very much about doing what pleases you, if that's getting your hair dyed blue and your nails orange, splendid! I have a friend who has her hair a different colour almost every month. That is very much a part of her being herself.

bewty - it's just about interpretation I guess. I still stand by what I said but at the same time I completely understand what you're saying too. People just see different meanings in things don't they, there's no right or wrong way of interpreting quotes.

BrightOranges · 17/08/2016 12:29

They're all naff. That's meant in the best possible way...

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 17/08/2016 12:33

I agree with Bright, all of them are naff!

ThatsMyStapler · 17/08/2016 12:36

What about easels? Or ladders to display pictures?

MiddleClassProblem · 17/08/2016 12:37

You're probably better off getting decal as a picture than words.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 17/08/2016 12:38

I really dislike wall decals, sorry.

Can you use those sticky strips to hang pictures up instead? You can get big ones for heavier frames and as long as you remove them as directed, they don't leave marks on the wall.

TheNaze73 · 17/08/2016 12:38

The first one wouldn't be my own personal choice. The others are ok
