Is it reasonable for an adult to buy themselves an ice cream in the park and eat it in front of dc without buying one for dc?

I wouldn't
But I never get to eat my ice cream anyway since a small boy always decides mine looks better than his Hmm

youngestisapsycho · 01/08/2016 20:48

Why would you?

YelloDraw · 01/08/2016 20:48

Um, I'm going to have to say that is a 'no'.

Unless they just had one within the hour or something.

Lilaclily · 01/08/2016 20:49

Yes

Aarrgghhh yanbu

purplefizz26 · 01/08/2016 20:52

Once they are at an age where they understand treats, say 2/3 ish, I think it's mean to eat something like that and leave them out.

cornishglos · 01/08/2016 20:52

I think it's ok. But I also think that ice-cream should be a treat for a special day, not just something you eat in the park.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 01/08/2016 20:52

No, not really.

Maybe something like of they chose to have one at a different ice cream van earlier?

Smartiepants79 · 01/08/2016 20:54

Completely depends on what else was going on. Had the kids already had ice-creams/sweets/cakes?? Had they been poorly behaved??
If yes then it's just fine for an adult to eat whatever they want in the park.
If no then it's maybe a bit odd.
But again a grown person can eat whatever they like!

AppleAndBlackberry · 01/08/2016 20:55

I wouldn't do this, no although I do eat ice cream after the children have gone to bed and sometimes they catch me! They get plenty of treats though at other times.

Crunchymum · 01/08/2016 20:56

My DD is dairy intolerant and I don't eat stuff she cannot have in front of her, unless she has an alternative.

Oops me and my sister did this yesterday!

In our defence, we queued for ages and ages at a fun fair to get our DD's a slush puppy. When we got near the front we picked an ice cream each out from the freezer, got the front of the queue and was told the slushies weren't ready yet! We gave our girls the option of getting an ice cream or coming back in 30 mins for a slush ie. They chose to wait.

Did comment to my sister that we looked like such mean mums walking around with ice creams whilst the girls had nothing!

HackAttack · 01/08/2016 20:58

It's kind of obvious that is different....

No more unreasonable than it is to post a question like that without context.

Bizarre.

2kids2dogsnosense · 01/08/2016 21:17

Biddy hell - I've never been able to even eat a polo mint without having to share it! I can't remember when I last had my own ice-cream . . . Envy

CoolioAndTheGang · 01/08/2016 21:17

My children would never let this happen, in fact, they would eat their own really quickly, just so they can finish off my ice-cream. Grin

alwaysreasonable · 01/08/2016 21:21

Context is: ex bought himself an ice cream and not one for dc. How do I know? Dc told me ex had it because it fell from the sky, and before you tell me dc is making it up, I know this wasn't a fib (on dc's behalf). Dc absolutely convinced Sad

2kids2dogsnosense · 01/08/2016 22:09

What a git! How can anyone eat stuff in front of a child and not get one for them?

Barsteward!
