To not let these gift cards expire

Blablabla1984 · 31/07/2016 21:16

We just moved house and I found two gift cards (Mothercare and Mamas & Papas), £20 each and about to expire next month. We got them when my little one was born and obviously forgot about them.

Ds doesn't need any new clothes or toys and I can't think of any presents at the moment. What would you get?

Basics in the next size up. Vests, socks , pjs.

MrsJoeyMaynard · 31/07/2016 21:17

Clothes in the next size up for him to grow into?

gruffaloshmuffalo · 31/07/2016 21:18

Toys for Christmas

MiracletoCome · 31/07/2016 21:18

i would probably get pyjamas or underclothes or t shirts in the bigger size, things that will fit in the future and children always need

Lariflete · 31/07/2016 21:19

Something in a bigger size perhaps? Maybe 1/2 years older than he is now so they are likely to fit him in the correct season.

Or ask them to transfer the balance to a new card so that they are valid for longer,

New duvet cover? stock for any cuter babies (either you or family/friends)

i might be wrong but I think if you purchase something it resets the expiry date? So you could buy something really cheap

Muskateersmummy · 31/07/2016 21:20

I would stock pile Christmas gifts.

d270r0 · 31/07/2016 21:24

I'd go for next size up clothes too- or next size up car seat from mothercare? Nappies etc? Next size up grobag?

T0ddlerSlave · 31/07/2016 21:35

Sometimes if they just scan them they'll be extended for a year.

EarthboundMisfit · 31/07/2016 21:38

You can get Early Learning Centre toys from Mother care.

Isisizzie · 31/07/2016 21:38

With the Mothercare one just take it into the shop ask for a balance enquiry and the 2 years will start again. Then you have more time to spend them.

Notso · 31/07/2016 21:49

Just buy a new voucher with them. I've done this loads of times.

eternalopt · 31/07/2016 21:49

If balance enquiry doesn't extend it, just buy something random and then take it back - you'll get a new gift card. Of course YANBU - you would be unreasonable to let them expire and let good money go to waste.

EdmundCleverClogs · 31/07/2016 21:55

Sorry, I'm going to be that person. If you can afford to, why not use them to buy nappies/clothes and donate them to a bank for those in need?

However, clothes are expensive, perhaps invest in a good winter coat if you can find one?

DragonsEggsAreAllMine · 31/07/2016 22:10

Clothes in the next size, not exactly hard to figure out.
