To ask for some MN terms explained! What is 'taat'? What is PBP? And will someone explain the bloody biscuits?! I've only just learned that MN has its' own emoticons and have been brazenly using my own!

Biscuit a negative jammy dodger, given to someone when they're being a twat.

DropYourSword · 30/07/2016 14:19

Taat - thread about a thread
PBP - previously banned poster

NeedACleverNN · 30/07/2016 14:19

PBP= previously banned poster
Biscuit is a sarcastic way of saying really?!

SmallBee · 30/07/2016 14:19

I still don't understand about Klaxons.

Taat stands for thread about a thread , which isn't supposed to happen but does all the time.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 30/07/2016 14:20

Acronym list

Taat- thread about a thread. Illegal!
Pbp - previously banned poster. Probably a troll
Biscuit - short term for Fuck Off / you're being a twat. But everyone will say it means 'Oh that takes the biscuit'.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 30/07/2016 14:20

The biscuit is used when another poster is usually being a dickhead.

I've never used it myself, I think it's a bit pointless as a means of telling someone they're being an arse.

NeedACleverNN · 30/07/2016 14:20

Klaxon is used for when there's something that could upset or gross out another poster. Such as spider pictures or sporning threads (spot popping)

DropYourSword · 30/07/2016 14:21

The biscuit is meant as an insult. I'm not exactly sure what it's supposed to stand for, but it's used when someone doesn't even deserve a written response, if they are being goady for example or acting like a twat. It's basically a way of telling someone to piss off!

WorraLiberty · 30/07/2016 14:25

I think the biscuit just means bore off.

LoreleiGilmoreIsMyBFF · 30/07/2016 14:25

Aaaahh, I'm getting it.... At first, I thought the biscuits were rewards, except sometimes they seemed unjustified!

If you want to give someone something nice give them Brew Cake Chocolate Flowers ...
Or better Wine

LoreleiGilmoreIsMyBFF · 30/07/2016 14:36

I've just found the flowers/chocs etc at the bottom of the page! I'm one of those who never reads the 'foreword' in a book - lesson learned in not diving straight in!

Only to be used in extreme circumstances though Grin

Flossieflower01 · 30/07/2016 14:40

This is asked by newbies about once a week- do a search, there are many lists available of common internet abbreviations!

MrsUnderwood · 30/07/2016 14:40

Klaxons are for summoning sporners to a delicious thread full of pus.
Mi thought the biscuit got given to twats because it looks like an anus.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 30/07/2016 14:44

But Grin beware the insult 'have my first biscuit' , it's as effective as a chocolate teapot and ..........

under no circumstances ever utter 'did you mean to be so rude' as an insult , it's shite and pointless.

Vipermisnomer · 30/07/2016 14:46

YABVU

LoreleiGilmoreIsMyBFF · 30/07/2016 14:50

I will keep my biscuits to myself (as I do in real life!)

PuppyMonkey · 30/07/2016 14:51

Didn't the Biscuit come from the famous MN politician q&a threads where numerous posters asked, for example, Gordon Brown what his favourite biscuit was and he refused to answer and lots of posters claimed it was demeaning to waste a question to the PM on fecking biscuits etc. Thus the biscuit symbolises sort of not answering a question, not rising to the bait.

Phew, that was hard to explain. Grin
