To be very annoyed about this!

Have been washing-machine-less for two weeks. Took a while to order a new one as we can get a discount through DH's work but that took a while to sort.

It arrived today and not only did they not remove the old one (we had paid £20 extra for this but apparently they had 'no record' of that and refused to do it) but the 'new' one is wet and mouldy inside! Am feeling furious and impotent as I'm not at home and trying to do last minute prep for an exam tomorrow for which I will now not have clean clothes but seriously wtf?! How does a new washing machine even GET mouldy inside?!

(I may be being disproportionately furious as I've been coveting a new one for years and was actually delighted when the old one gave up the ghost...)

I think mine arrived wet (but not mouldy). Do they test them first - maybe that's why? Mouldy is pretty grim.

I guess you have two options:

1. complain
2. put it on a cleaning cycle before you use it then move on with your life.

Complain.

Currys did the same to my BF.

I had this with john Lewis. Was icily polite on the phone (I was 6 months pregnant and spending wedding money) and they replaced it. Took a week though, which as I'd given the old one to a friend was bloody awkward!

You can't wash the mould out of a washing machine without taking the bastard to bits.

I am guessing it was bought, used and returned, then sat in a warehouse for far too long.

Not fit for purpose. Return. And kick up an almighty stink.

YANBU. If you have proof that you paid for disposal, they need to take the old one away. The new appliance should not be mouldy. I would not let this one go.
