Neighbourhood Children outside

Ok so totally not sure if IABU or not. Since it has been light out in the evenings there seems to be a group of kids playing out front, I live down a little close which is off of another close which I suppose is where these children live. They are not in their gardens but running up and down our roads SCREAMING. Don't get me wrong I'm never ever normally a person that dislikes listening to child noise but is it unreasonable that at nearly 8 this is still going on and so loud that my DD can't actually sleep (I don't blame her, I wouldn't be able to either) they seem to be within the ages of about 7-10 and a few of them.

The kids have just broken up from school after a long year. The sun is shining and they are out enjoying the light evenings and the warm weather.

In a few years your child will also want to be out playing. If someone started moaning at your child just being a child then you'd be on here moaning about that.

She might not own the street (what a stupid comment!) but she is entitled to some peace and bloody quiet in her own home or garden. Unfortunately if she says anything some Neanderthal will probably come round, verbally attack her and send the kids round later to put bricks through her car windows. Nobody minds kids playing. Everybody (except their drunk parents) mind kids constantly screaming.

I'm not going to go out and moan to them about it I was just asking opinions. I don't mind kids playing outside, we get that all the time, that is absolutely a non issue its just that they are literally screaming so loud that even with the windows shut and a fan on it is so loud.

I wouldn't allow DD to shriek about the place. Playing out doesn't have to equal screaming at full pitch.

YABU but I do raise an eyebrow at my neighbour who does DIY at 10pm lol.

Kids used to do this all the time years ago - now it's becoming less and less common so consequently we're getting more intolerant of it.

You're very lucky to live in a road they can play out on - my DC would be mown down in a second if they stepped out on our road to play .

I don't think it's too late - 9.30 it'll be dark.

Rivertam this is how I feel.

My seven year old is outside with a few of his friends. They arnt running up and down shrieking, but they are clearly having fun, laughing and playing and running.

Nothing nicer than hearing children playing.

WantToRunAgain I 100% agree; I used to be out playing all evening BUT if my parents thought we were being a nuicense or being loud for too long at this sort of time they would have come out and told us to keep it down. I don't think we have enough respect for our neighbours anymore, I've no issue with them being outside playing, it's nice we live somewhere it's sad enough to but they have been screaming for around an hour now.

Kids that age, respond really well to being spoken to maturely. Just go out and kindly ask if they mind being a little quieter as your little girl can't sleep. I'm sure theyll be fine about it and love the fact an adult is asking a favour.

I've never actually seen a group of children playing who are constantly screaming at the top of their voices yet on here all children playing outside do this! Even if the op doesn't actually say it people responding will say they shouldn't have to put up with constant screaming. I'd love to know where all these screaming competition loving children live.

It's probably children, you know, playing, that they are hearing and because the posters are most they can't concentrate on eastenders

Personally, I'm unable to work, read or sleep. Things that don't disturb or affect anyone else. TV is fine as it drowns it out, but I don't always want to do that. Or listen to music.

I am sure if you go out and ask them to be a bit quiet a drunken thug wont send their kids to brick your windows its summer kids are out playing its fine and nothing to get that worked up about

I have something similar but its not in the evening, I have heard 2 young children in their garden most mornings this week (it actually sounds as if they are in my bedroom they are that noisy!) before 7am, Tuesday it was 06:25!! Balls bouncing on concrete, child singing "let it go" at the top of their voice, 1yr old jabbering and then wailing. I too don't mind hearing children play outside but feel some parents are not actually considering others. I can see it getting worse as we have now finished for summer (I work in a sch) so know I will be awake early everyday!

In the holidays, I have this from around 9am - 9.30 pm. It annoys the hell out of me. I wouldn't mind a few hours but it's all day every day for weeks. I'm a teacher so I understand children but I don't think it's unreasonable to want some peace for a few hours in my own home and garden. They race on scooters right outside my house, shrieking and shouting. They knock on doors and windows. Parents shout and scream at them. It's a nightmare.

Yabu. They are young kids just broken up from school. It's great to have kids playing together in fresh air and not stuck inside on an ipad.

You will be in the same boat one day.
