To feel like an overly-emotional fool?

I'm not the most emotional of people; I rarely cry, and if I do, I prefer to do it in private. I've just dropped my son off for his last morning at nursery. They have been absolutely bloody brilliant with him. He was diagnosed as having ASD in May, and they have been incredibly kind and supportive, particularly as I was unable to get him into a special ed school so he will be starting at mainstream in September.

As we approached the doors, I started feeling a bit weepy but told myself to keep it together. Kissed him goodbye and had full on meltdown. The really snotty, messy kind of crying. Of course, they were all lovely but I feel a bit of a tit! Snuffled and gulped all the way and just had a carthartic little cry once home.

I feel really embarrassed, and if I'm like this now, what about pick-up?! Any other mums lost the plot on their DS' last day of nursery/school?!

Thanks Mouikey - I wish I was one of those women who sob delicately but I'm a hideous cryer! Snotty and red........ OK. Psyching myself for pick up at 12!
