On the basis that it's too hot to cook.

Do it.

2nds · 20/07/2016 16:50

Lol what flavour?

BusStopBetty · 20/07/2016 16:51

We have Magnums, Twix ice creams, ice pops, mint choc chip, and vanilla.

Of course.

Rare hot days are like Shrove Tuesday aren't they? Savoury rules do not apply.

RatOnnaStick · 20/07/2016 16:57

Depends. In this house DS1 and DH would have a conniption fit as although they eat ice creams now and then neither one has a sweet tooth. They'd much prefer a peanut butter sandwich or cheese and grapes for dinner.

DS2 would eat all the ice cream. In the world.

Thequilltosurvive · 20/07/2016 16:57

Nope. Wish I'd thought to do the same Grin

2nds · 20/07/2016 16:58

Ooh mint choc chip :-)

icouldabeenacontender · 20/07/2016 16:58

That's a veritable banquet BusStop

Certainly not unreasonable in any way.

spanky2 · 20/07/2016 16:59

Yum!!! We've got left over pizza and salad. Can I come round for tea at yours?Grin

EdmundCleverClogs · 20/07/2016 17:01

If everyone would be happy with it, go ahead. I'd not like it myself (I'm a Ben and Jerrys girl anyway). I would always choose and actual dinner over ice cream, even just a sandwich or beans on toast, but you know your family!

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 20/07/2016 17:05

Serve it with salad and a cold sausage as a flake and you have a lovely balanced meal.

BusStopBetty · 20/07/2016 17:06

I've graciously offered to make sandwiches as well. I may even slice some cucumber.

My DC have got chicken wraps as I roasted a chicken yesterday yes on the hottest day of the year, no I don't know why so some chopping of crudités to go in said wraps and I am done! Icecream for pudding though, good idea OP

Jenijena · 20/07/2016 17:07

YABU. You should also provide ice lollies, for choice.

and Pimms, but that might be pushing it

WhirlwindHugs · 20/07/2016 17:09

We've had ice cream and jelly...

It's the last day of term, it's super hot, normal rules do not apply!

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 20/07/2016 17:13

Helena If it makes you feel any better, I'm roasting a chicken tonight. I must have taken leave of my senses Grin it's so warm in my garden, I could probably have left on the path to cook. The house is now a furnace.

HemanOrSheRa · 20/07/2016 17:15

Hehe! I roasted a chicken yesterday Helena. DS requested a roast dinner after his year 6 play performance last night. In a foolish fit I agreed Confused.

I did think about serving just raspberry ripple ice cream and strawberries but DS eats like a horse at the moment and would be horrified at that. So we are having peri peri chicken and salad AND raspberry ripple ice cream for pud.

HelenaJustina · 20/07/2016 20:16

I feel better! Tea tonight was a breeze and makes me feel better about suffering yesterday.
