Heels have been hurting recently, I assumed it was because I desperately needed to give them a scrub/splash out on a foot we. I inspected them just now and there's loads of tiny holes all over my heel. Left much worse than right and lots of dry skin too, if I soak and scrub them the black goes away but the holes remain....

I've attached a picture of the right one (left is soaking)

I'd say verrucas too.

That's a very nasty series of verrucas. I'd book a doctors appointment asap Monday to see what can be done, given that there's so many.

lol im not a gp just great at google so am not 100% sure but looks similar and can be easily treated and is not contagious or X Files worthy lol

They dont look like verrucas to me, i was thinking really cracked heels that have collected dirt.

Tea tree essential oil is your friend put it on 3 times a day. They'll go.

It's not verrucas it has appearance of pitted keratolysis as balls said.

Usually happens in people with sweaty feet! Can use fusidin cream to clear it, I expect you would have to show it to your GP to get some.

It looks to be pitted keratolysis, thanks everyone. Not sure how I've managed to get it now though, I've been wearing sandals since early June.

Dr Google suggests a topical antibiotic, I've just been put on oral antibiotics for an unrelated thing, is there any chance of them also clearing this up?

Tea tree IS a natural antibiotic btw. It works where normal ABs don't, like inMRSA. I use it for a gargle too. It's fabulous. Google it.

My tip for the day is 'Do not search google images for 'pitted keratolysis'.

That looks like the beginnings of a mosaic wart- its a form of verrucca- they are bloody difficult to get rid of. The only way is daily treatment with Salicylic acid and use a foot file to get rid of the dead skin (although you will need to be careful to catch the bits in a bag and don't let anyone else use the foot file.)

I had a cluster of these on the back of my ankle last year- I also used Cider vinegar but it hurts like hell.They don't look like a standard verucca. Mine looked just like yours to start with.

Took about three months to clear.

Echo pitted keratolysis vote - I have it and a PITA. FYI the excessive sweating is called hyperhydrosis - one treatment for it is Botox injections. Rather than the type of shoes you are weary nag, the material is important. Flip flops for ex if plastic won't help.

I don't find fucidin effective at all. I get my GP to prescribe the most industrial paint-on wart treatment and do my entire soles.

Also AMAZING are Footner socks from Boots, expensive but they work. Note that a) believe the instructions and limit them to an hour wear as you will get chemical burns any longer experience and b) only do them outside 2 weeks of anyone needing to see your feet as they will come off in strips, so not good holiday prep! I find I also lose about half an inch in height after application :-)

One more thing. If you are unfortunate enough to have developed this try to get rid in summer. You will have stinky feet come enclosed shoes in winter.

Don't do vinegar, it is known to harden skin (ie encourage dead). You need to reduce the amount of dead skin for those pesky microbes to eat rather than give them pudding as well.
