in a professional capacity, for women to invite only women along to a professional networking event with cake, prosecco, and to talk about lingerie. The profession has nothing to do with lingerie.

Am I missing something?

Can you just change the subject?

Or just fill up on the cake and prosecco and go home?

Perhaps they tried to find something they could exclude men from the way men exclude women from playing golf, or visits to the stripclub, or whatever men do for networking, and this was the only thing they could come up with where no man could demand to be included?

I'd say go there and eat the cake, and see if the lingerie thing was just a pretense and everyone does professional networking ... or if they actually do talk about lingerie the whole time.

If the latter, you needn't go to another such event.

I didn't go because I don't like it when anyone deliberately excludes anyone.

I'm a feminist and I love fizzy wine, cake and nice knickers. I get invited to loads if sport based marketing events and they bore me to tears. It would make a nice change!

MrsJoeyMaynard · 14/07/2016 22:42

Was talking about lingerie compulsory?

TopiaryBun · 14/07/2016 22:43

But how do you know they talked about underwear if you didn't go???

Dontyoulovecalpol · 14/07/2016 22:43

Do you mean it's not feminist to exclude men or it's not feminist for women to talk about lingerie?

On the face of it it does seem a bit frivolous and low brow and "cmon girls let's be naughty!" But depends on what the context is really. What form was the lingerie conversation supposed to take?

Is it an Ann Summers party?
