A fly just flew into my ear!

Argh.

Sitting on the sofa with DD napping on me. Very loud buzzing sound in my right ear. It's a very small fly, I batted it away but it flew into my fucking ear.

Ear is buzzing and itchy. What the fuck do I do?

Put a spider in there

Then a cat

Point ear to the light and it will fly out

Eek, that sounds horrible. Can you submerge the side of your had in water to try and drown it/wash it out?

The cat won't fit

Optional first step, see if you can pour a little Olive oil into your ear, and tip your head on one side - it's sticky and so with smother it, rather than send it whizzing round in your ear. Then yy to a shower, tip your head on one side so that the warm water goes into your ear, then tip your head the other way, to tip it out

(That's all what my uncle was advised when he went to his GP with the same situation years ago.)

If oil doesnt work please go to the nurse/Dr to get it checked out. This happened to dh a couple of weeks ago. It didn't come out and hurt a lot, nurse and gp couldn't get it out and he ended up in A&E. It was mahoosive.

On a first aid course I went on they said fill you eat with water, the fly will drown but will eventually float to the top

I was going to suggest squirming a load of warm water in there. This happened to me a couple of years ago.

You sound remarkably calm. When this happened to me I was screaming the house down

A+E after waiting 6 hours with a broken foot (and a badly sprained other foot) a lady was admitted ahead of me after waiting 15 minutes because she had a bug in her ear. So it must be serious.

They flushed it out with saline by the way. I know because I burst in to tears when I saw her admitted and they admitted me not long after (although I wasn't seen by a doctor for a while because 4 of them were dealing with her ear/watching the nurse treat her). Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Cross everything it doesn't lay any eggs. That then hatch and fly out your mouth in a few weeks....

Sorry, that wasn't helpful and has made me feel squeamish so probably hasn't done anything to make you feel better.

Try a bit of olive oil and if that doesn't work then a trip to the nurse.

Oh my GOD - this is my worst nightmare. I hope you get it out!!!!

What about running a hot bath and submerging your ear so that it fills with water and as the bubbles come out hopefully the fly will too?
