To consider altering my uniform so it fits better?

I have to wear a company provided uniform for work. It's a shirt and trousers but neither of them fit very well. (I'm always getting nagged to tuck my shirt in when it won't actually tuck in, for example.)

I was thinking about making the shirt a bit longer so it'll actually tuck in, re-sewing the sleeves because they feel twisted (one shirt, but it drives me bonkers!) and putting some darts in the trousers so they're no so baggy around the bum/thighs.

I've not mentioned it to work yet because I don't think they'll care. The sewing will be done to a very high standard and I think it'll make me look smarter. Would it be unreasonable?

Does your uniform have any safety aspects - if so no.

How would you lengthen the shirt? I have the same problem with my uniform. I did get my trousers taken in to fit.

Yes. If it's anything like the ones my work provide then I would alter it (sounds similar to ours with shirt & trousers)

I was going to let the hem down on the shirt. I think I can get an inch or so from it.

If not, I have a matching shirt with a rip in it that I could take a bit from. I was thinking about adding a piece into the sleeves anyway so they sit better.

I've got two pairs of jeans that are too long and a pair of curtains that need running up if you've got the time OP

But, I wouldn't ask, I would just do it and wait to see if anyone mentions it (could almost guarantee they won't).

Go ahead and alter it. A dart or a stitch here and there will only make you look smarter in their uniform.
My school blouses were all stitched up the front button panel to avoid boob tension/gaping and make them easier to iron.
An extra tail on the bottom of your shirt won't be seen if you're tucking it in. But material added to the sleeves might be noticeable. I wouldn't do that.

Not U at all. Do it, you'll look and feel much better.

I do this with my DCs' school uniform. Some of it is cosmetic and some of it essential as they're too skinny even for the smallest sizes which really fucks me off at £60 for a blazer and £32 for a skirt and I have lots of DC.

I did a quick pin if my trousers and taking them in is going to make me look thinner! Win right there lol!

I did it with my work shirt. I'm norky with a little waist. I had to order a size up as otherwise I'd bust out of my shirt. The larger size makes me look very baggy, as though I'm wearing a boyfriend shirt.
I redid the darts and the side seams.
It was a bugger though. I hate slippery polyester.
