And another thing. The referendum. Does this now mean that England won't be allowed to play in the Euros anymore?

England probably won't qualify for any more Euros given recent performances, but seeing as it's for the European continent rather than the European Union, they will still be eligible to play. I'm sure Norway and Switzerland and any other non-EU countries start off, even if they don't qualify for the finals.

DilysPrice · 28/06/2016 07:09

You know how England went out to Iceland? And Iceland aren't in the EU and never have been?

JedRambosteen · 28/06/2016 07:13

But Iceland is in the EEA. I guess it depends on the terms of our exit.

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 28/06/2016 07:15

Yes it does mean no more euros or eurovision . The brexiters voting to leave the EU obviously caused a continental shift so huge we're also no longer part of Europe

not true

mummytime · 28/06/2016 07:16

You know Russia is/was in the Euros? And isn't in any trade area.

Next people will start worrying about Eurovision.

BarbaraofSeville · 28/06/2016 07:24

No Eurovision? This Brexit lark is starting to look quite positive. Although, I'm sure that while they allow Israel to take part, we're safe in that regard, sadly.

There are quite a lot of different geographical, political definitions of Europe actually - with different countries in each group. A Europe Venn Diagram.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 28/06/2016 07:30

Haha the lack of understanding is unbelievable!

UEFA/Eurovision any other European organisation that isn't the EU has nothing to do with the referendum.

As has been pointed out countries like Russia Iceland and Switzerland take part every time in the competions. Although I did see some one say she'd voted out because it meant that England couldn't play in the euros next year. Well no they can't because erm it's er this year in fact it's erm NOW!

GrimmauldPlace · 28/06/2016 07:39

England will almost definitely qualify for more Euros. We almost always do. It's just in the actual competition we crumble.

Do people really think that leaving the EU means we are leaving the continent? Or was that a joke?

Jamie Vardy will probably still be having a party. He is a premier league winner after all. He wasn't given a proper chance in this tournament what with Roy not knowing his arse from his elbow.

DoItTooJulia · 28/06/2016 07:43

Australia were at Eurovision.....

GrimmauldPlace · 28/06/2016 07:45

They were special guests last year because there's a massive following over there apparently, to celebrate the 60th anniversary. Then were invited back this year. All money related I should imagine! I don't think they can host it if they win though.

Meowlster · 28/06/2016 07:55

That's truly worrying Naught. But to be fair Barbara , that diagram doesn't show The Euros or Eurovision. How do they fit in with the political landscape ? ;)

lostincumbria · 28/06/2016 08:02

What about the German Christmas markets? Are they banned too now?

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 28/06/2016 08:59

Do people really think that leaving the EU means we are leaving the continent?

Mrsfizzy I genuinely had to explain the difference to a friend of mine and my own bloody mother

TheNaze73 · 28/06/2016 09:33

I'm hoping the OP was being ironic

Katemiddletonsothermum · 28/06/2016 21:54

Nope, just wishful thinking...

OP posts:
x2boys · 28/06/2016 22:00

Oh i really do wish leaving the EU would mean the end of the Eurovision. Every cloud and all thatGrin

Lemonlady22 · 28/06/2016 22:35

what about jamie vardys party?.....my invite must have got lost in the post!

venusinscorpio · 28/06/2016 22:41

You may remember Albania was in the group stages this time. Albania are definitely not part of either the EU or the EEA.

GrimmauldPlace · 29/06/2016 06:14

But they're part of Europe, the continent, no?

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 29/06/2016 08:10

Right here are all 52 UEFA countries.

I don't really get this wishful thinking about euros or Eurovision honestly did you really think leaving either of them would be an outcome of the referendum. You might not like either but a good many do. And surely you can count 52 in uefa is more than 27 well 26 countries of the EU so you'd see that countries don't have to be a member of the Eu to be member of uefa

venusinscorpio · 29/06/2016 08:28

Yes, that was my point. The Euros are nothing to do with Brexit.

EmmaWoodlouse · 29/06/2016 15:27

He already had the party, it was when Leicester won the championship, There was footage of it all over the place. And I agree he should have been used more in the Euros.

On the other point, I don't see why not being in the EU automatically means not being able to be in the Euros. Iceland isn't (although it is a member of the European Economic Area, which is what some people are saying Britain will join now).

Katemiddletonsothermum · 01/07/2016 23:20

Peter Andre goes to Iceland.
