To think early pregmancy tests are evil

I know we're all adults and no one has to buy them but sensitive tests seem.seem to just cause a lot of heartache or (in my case) stupid people buying millions to make sure the line is getting darker.
Hopefully this pregnancy sticks but if not I'm staying the fuck away from these things.
Was 15 weeks when I found out with DS and had no idea how much anxiety and upset trying to get pregnant on purpose can cause and it feels a bit weird companies making money from people's worry

after googling how common chemical pregnancies are, it seems a bit irresponsible to tell people they can test 5 days early or whatever when they otherwise would have been blissfully unaware

Yes i would have been totally unaware of my 3 chem pregnancies!

You should wait until a missed period or 3 weeks after the last unprotected sex incident before you test.

My DD was on medication that would have damaged my GD, if the test showed negative, she would have had to go for a blood test.

This was a unplanned pregnancy.

Likewise, I've had to use one, when I desperately didn't want to be pregnant. I miscarried naturally.

I had difficulty conceiving my second DD, so I know the heartache of bulk buying them, but I think that early testing can be a good thing and takes the pressure of the GP sending someone for bloods.

They wasn't around when I was trying for my first and you still go through the worry, even if you can't test early.

I agree. I did a test about 3 weeks ago and was although planned shocked yet delighted when I saw the 2 lines. Infact I put my test on here for clarification.
I started bleeding a few days later so I'm assuming. It must have been a chemical pregnancy, or very unlikely but Perhaps the test was wrong.

I spent so much on early pregnancy tests which came back negative because I was convinced I was. I was right but I wish I had the will power to wait until a missed period. For nothing else an early positive test just makes the pregnancy seem so long.

Obviously, it depends on whether you WANT to be pregnant. If you do want it, then yes, early pregnancy tests are evil and you should avoid them.

However, they are an useful tool for women who do NOT want to be pregnant.

I remember my DM telling me that years ago the only way you new you were pregnant was if you missed two periods.

I do think early tests make for the longest pregnancies in the world, despite having used them myself.

I want those digi tests banned also. I hate seeing the stress caused by constant testing just to check the lines getting darker on early tests and the inverting the colour thing. It's all wtf territory for me.

YABU. They are not evil, but they should be used mindfully.

If you want to be pregnant, consider whether you would rather have a "late period" or know that it was a chemical pregnancy, and proceed accordingly.

But I think most women spend most of their lives avoiding pregnancy, and they need more information rather than less.

I had a genuine positive early after IVF and it saved me a good few days of uber stress knowing it had probably worked.

As you say, we're all adults. You're quite free to dislike them, but banning them, as some posters seem to be suggesting is ridiculous. It would be totally unfair to deprive some women of information because a few find the outcome upsetting.
