Annoyed to be banned from facebook?

I have been banned from facebook for 3 days for posting a photo of a Greek Statue, with the usual small penis. I was notified that I was banned because I had posted nudity.

I post a lot of feminist posts, and I think it was reported because of that. Given the amount of terrible things I see on facebook that facebook refuse to remove, I am angry at this.

Some of Facebook moderators/rule makers are idiotic.

KittyLaRoux · 18/06/2016 19:15

It's shit OP I agree.

I see posts of dead children and animals, post of bikini clad models in very suggestive poses yet you get banned for posting a picture of a statue which is art.
FB sucks donkey balls.

practy · 18/06/2016 19:16

Yes I have reported terrible photos and been told they do not violate their policy. I know lots of women were getting banned for posting photos of them breastfeeding, but even I am shocked at getting a temporary ban for posting a photo of a Greek statue.

I read their justification for leaving up a live video of a murder earlier today. Their statement was breathtaking.

PolitelyDisagree · 18/06/2016 19:19

Sounds like a good reason for a daily mail sad face as its so stupid.

PeterandJudithSurname · 18/06/2016 19:20

Bonkers. Yanbu

situatedknowledge · 18/06/2016 19:21

Here's the link to the story on the BBC. [[Chicago man shot dead during Facebook live-stream
www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-36566635 Facebook justification]] Gets lots of clicks to FB though. Angry

practy · 18/06/2016 19:39

It is terrible that video was not taken down.
Yes quite happy to do a sad Daily Mail face.

I once reported a video to Facebook that popped up in a group I follow. I don't know for sure what the video was because I obviously didn't watch it, but the freeze frame was of two naked women and a horse and the tag line suggested the women were having sex with the horse.

Facebook said it didn't break any of their guidelines and left it up Hmm

Atenco · 18/06/2016 19:48

I got banned forever because I refused to send them ID to show that I am who I my pseudonym say I am.

I live in a country where some people suffer dire consequences for exercising free speech and, in fact, I was reported by a goon from the party in power.

JayDot500 · 18/06/2016 19:50

Erm, I went to the Louvre and posted the exact same thing. I've no ban Hmm

practy · 18/06/2016 19:52

Jay I am sure lots of people post similar every day and don't get banned. I am still astounded that I was banned for that.

OP posts:
practy · 18/06/2016 19:52

And facebook only do something, if someone reports your post.

JuxtapositionRecords · 18/06/2016 19:52

I reported a vile photoshopped picture of Harvey Price (Katie Price's son) - as if the picture wasn't bad enough, the comments were appalling.

I got told it didn't violate their "standards". Bloody disgusting.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 18/06/2016 19:55

I refuse to partake in the abomination that is Facebook. Before anyone starts I KNOW it can be useful for keeping up to date with obscure relatives in Canada!!!! But the hideousness of it all massively outweighs any good.

Babysafari · 18/06/2016 19:58

Why are you all still using Facebook in that case?

Boycott it.

WorraLiberty · 18/06/2016 20:10

That's strange.

My friend is into art and she had photos removed by FB but she wasn't banned.

Have you had any previous warnings?

practy · 18/06/2016 20:12

Yes had one previous warning for a feminist meme I shared that showed one nipple.

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 18/06/2016 20:17

Ahh that'll probably be it then.

Still bloody daft though.

practy · 18/06/2016 20:19

Yes and crazy that someone else has had art removed. I mean I know a male Greek statue is nude, but hardly anyone would object to that.

OP posts:
FoxesOnSocks · 18/06/2016 20:21

Well that's mental. I was expecting to open this thread to find you complaining about being banned for something you should have been banned for. But that's redonkulous.

WorraLiberty · 18/06/2016 20:22

I think some people form a personal grudge against someone else, and then they report them out of spite.

I can't see anyone being truly offended by a statue like that.

Nicky333 · 18/06/2016 20:29

Juxta, I reported what sounds like the same picture of Harvey Price, also to be told that it didn't violate the standards. Idiots.

maartjebaabes · 18/06/2016 20:42

I have heard, and cannot back this up with any evidence, that FB censorship is performed in different locations around the world at different times. This means that something posted late at night might be reviewed by a relaxed Brazilian on the beach, but something posted in the early morning might be done by conservative rural Moroccans. You can see how they might have different standards.

Also, if you were censoring pictures all day, wouldn't you want to make a couple of ridiculous rulings to while away the time?

JuxtapositionRecords · 18/06/2016 20:53

Weirdly I just went to google something and the guy being shot on a Facebook video is trending on there. That says it all about why Facebook wouldn't take it down.
