Advice Please - Major Surgery, Got a Hi Temp

This isn't really an AIBU, but posting here for traffic.

I'm having major surgery in 5 days but at hospital today was told I had a high temp (just 37.7 but they won't do the surgery if it doesn't come down).

I don't feel remotely unwell but had a bad cold, which I fully recovered from a week ago, but still have a phlegm-y cough (no yukky colour, just white).

I've waited so long for this surgery with this surgeon and am worried sick that they'll have to postpone.

What can I do in 5 days to get temp down?

Thanks, bit of a bugger isn't it, wish I did not need another new bloody hip, then another new bloody knee, DH says they are rebuilding me! I would rather have new perky boobs and liposuction then Grin I say ..... recycle me as a bloody ford escort when I pop off, there will be about enough metal for it. Grin

It's another new hip for me too. And ditto the boobs and lipo! Next time... Grin

coincidence! in that case you know how much better it will be when done, its just a nightmare having to have it done in the first place. good luck, I am awaiting my date in a mix of anticipation and dread.

Temperature is normally a sign of having an infection on board which would complicate your recovery. Try to get plenty of rest and keep your fluids up. Only time will tell. I had a temperature at my pre op but it came down in time for my operation a few days later.
