...have a pretty rubbish time of it?!

Every single time, the one defining characteristic that gives them their name is drummed out of them! How harsh is that?!

So much for self expression.

Maybe they then change their name. To John. Or Eric. Or the Artist Formerly Known as Mr Bump.

shamelessmailhack · 13/06/2016 21:59

Not as bad as being a 'little miss'. Bleugh. Wink

SabineUndine · 13/06/2016 22:02

They've got the most irritating theme tune in eternity, too. Instant earworm. ALL TOGETHER NOW . . .

La la-la la-la la-la la-lah, dee dooby do. La la-la la-la be doo. La la-la la-la be doo-oo. . .

OhMrBadger · 13/06/2016 22:03

The Little Misses always seemed a poorer cousin....

Cutecat78 · 13/06/2016 22:04

Are THE most tedious books in the world ....

OhMrBadger · 13/06/2016 22:05

Is that the original theme tune or the modern usurper Sabine?

PiggyPlumPie · 13/06/2016 22:06

Aww no, I have fond memories of listening to the late great Arthur Lowe read the books on my sisters LP.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 13/06/2016 22:07

Well, IMHO Mr Tickle deserves it! He has no sense of boundaries, and needs it drumming out of him. You can't be enabling that sort of behaviour, shurely?!

CalleighDoodle · 13/06/2016 22:07

Awful, awful books. Try reading Little Miss Star. Made me cry it was so bad. Biff and Chip all is forgiven.

I am so pleased to find I'm not the only one who despises them.

SabineUndine · 13/06/2016 22:09

Badger I am saddened, shocked. It is the original, of course. Can't you tell?

The old theme tune used to go 'All friends together, the little Miss and Mr Men, all friends together, round and round they go' - that was in the 80's.

OhMrBadger · 13/06/2016 22:14

Sabine hang on...la la la-le la

So it was the original!! Grin

DS: Mummy, look, I chose all Mr Men books tonight! Look! 5!

OhMrBadger · 13/06/2016 22:16

I loved Arthur Lowe reading them too but thinking back I reckon he too was thinking, "what's the bloody point? They'll only undergo some kind of redemption and end up a totally different person. Sod this, I'm off."

Noo, surely Mr Strong saves the day and gets rewarded.

OhMrBadger · 13/06/2016 22:24

Ooo thrown me a curve ball there, Giddy!

foxessocks · 13/06/2016 22:24

My dds mister men books have mysteriously vanished...her peppa pig books unfortunately have not.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 13/06/2016 22:29

And Mr Topsy Turvey (is that his name? The one who hangs the paintings upside down) just goes away. Mr Rush gets a job too (postman?) where he can ruch.

Yes I do need to get a life

NationMcKinley · 13/06/2016 22:29

God, I can't bloody stand the bloody Mr Men. So so tedious and so unnecessarily long! DS3 tried to choose one tonight (my usual caveat at bedtime is no Mr Men books). I'm sending them to the charity shop tomorrow

SunshineOutdoors · 13/06/2016 22:30

They're so horrible to Mr Nosey in his book.

NewLife4Me · 13/06/2016 22:36

I love the Mr Men and still have the dc full collection of the originals.
got all 3 of mine into reading, improved their vocabulary and gave them a giggle.
What's not to like?

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 13/06/2016 23:09

Noo, surely Mr Strong saves the day and gets rewarded

My thoughts exactly.

Mr. Strong was kind of hot. If I had to pick a Mr. Man it'd be him...Wink

They all had terrible taste in interior design though.
