What time is it ok to complain?

Seen a lot of these threads today about neighbours being complained about, but on the flip side, when is noise enough of a problem to have a quiet/stern word.

I've got an 11month old that's asleep in the front bedroom with the window ajar (due to heat and the fact that she's got a slight temp with her teeth coming through).

She's so grouchy and the kids playing outside are kicking balls and shouting, not continuously but they are not quiet. I don't want to be arsey but would be nice if they could be more considerate. WIBU to go out and say something now or is it too early?

I think after 8pm is fair enough - although I hate saying anything, I just moan to myself/DH!

When it's dark , shut the window and put a fan on .

Sorry but whilst I sympathise with the problem I don't think you can reasonably ask them to be quiet until much later. 9pm would be the earliest I would think. How old are these children? How much shouting is going on? Is it angry shouting or just part of the game?

I'm really glad the children in your street are happily kicking balls and playing, rather than glued to a screen. They'll be called in for bed as it darkens I'm sure. Your 11 month old will be that age before you know it !

At 10pm imo. I sympathise but you can't expect older children not to make normal playing out sounds just because your baby is in bed. And they aren't being inconsiderate, they are being normal healthy children.

It's Friday, it's not unreasonable of them to be having a kick about at 8pm. Can you shift the baby to a different room? Or close the window and a fan?
