So far today the following has happened:
A lady I'm purchasing a service from for an upcoming holiday has advised, despite previous assurances, that it will cost 50euros more than quoted. Information delivered "in the end it will be X amount." Deposit is already paid, negotiations had already happened, and holiday is tomorrow, so I'm forced to accept it.
I've had to chase up a company who were due at my place to install some carpet, due between 8 and 11, and was told "oh the fitter was held up, but yes he'll be with you today". I'd made the appointment weeks ago for a time that was convenient to me.
A friend who was dropping by to return a lent item showed up 50 minutes after she said she would. When she was 30min late I sent a text saying "see you soon?" and was told "5 minutes away" (she then showed up after a further 20 minutes)
All of these were delivered without any kind of apology. What is going on?? I honestly do not mind if people are late but for crying out loud, let me know so I can get on with stuff! And a bit of extra expense is ok but at least she could have acknowledged that to would have been a surprise and inconvenience to me.
AIBU to think that it's really not that difficult to apologise? It smooths things over where otherwise there could be upset or inconvenience?
