I got married 5 years ago, and chose 3 friends as Bridesmaids and one as MOH.

In the last 5 years, they have all got married or are currently engaged.

Yet I haven't been asked to be Bridesmaid for any of them?

I understand they are perfectly within their right to choose their own Bridesmaids! But i can't help but feel a little sad that none of them considered me...?

it's ok to feel sad but circumstances change

Starslubs · 03/06/2016 20:40

Maybe they have lots of female relatives who want to be bridesmaids

xMumToTwox · 03/06/2016 20:45

Always a Bridesmaid but never a Bride...
or in my case once a Bride never a Bridesmaid lol

This is why I didn't have bridesmaids at all ( I would be a little miffed too!)

Hassled · 03/06/2016 20:49

Oh I think that's fair enough to be miffed. You're right - of course they can ask who they want. But that has to sting a bit - I'm sorry.

Same here, once a bride but never been a bridesmaid Smile. I had 5 bridesmaids and 4 of them are married now and no one's asked me but them I'm not bothered, I just sort of noticed now with this post, and in their defence, i was pregnant when 2 of them got married so fair enough

I've been a BM once, don't see the big deal tbh.

coco1810 · 04/06/2016 02:55

I had never been a bm until my sister married when I was 25. Hated every freaking minute of it! Ds was the bridezilla from hell. She had a hissy fit because I wore a black bra for my dress fitting. She made me wear a horrific dress. Sulked because I was a size six and she dieted for two years to get to a twelve. (Just like to point out I had a fantastic metabolism until I had dd, now a 14) and then told me to shut the fuck up on the big day because it was "all about her"! I spend sleepless nights plotting revenge......

Yes maybe they had children as bridesmaids, cousins, nieces etc or sisters...but it's ok to feel a little sad that you haven't been a bridesmaid ... yet

myownprivateidaho · 04/06/2016 04:04

Isn't it traditional for bridesmaids to be unmarried....?

bumbleclat · 04/06/2016 04:06

I kept mine simple by only allowing Small children to be bridesmaids.

Owlytellsmesecrets · 04/06/2016 04:06

Ive been a bridesmaid twice. Once when I was 15 and 2 years ago aged 37 with 3 kids. It was my DB wedding and it felt a bit WIERD ! My DD was 3 and flowergirl too.
TBH we have not attended very many weddings .... Most of our good friends are not married.

Junosmum · 04/06/2016 06:24

Idaho- it might be but I don't know anyone who sticks to it. Every one I know had their closest female friends(s) and their/their husbands sister. I had my 2 closest female friends, my closest male friend, my husband's sister and my niece. One of my friends is married.

OP- I'd be a bit miffed. I was bridesmaid for one of my bridesmaids and for another friend, but in the 7 years that have passed, me and other friend have drifted apart, so I didn't ask her.
