To be getting into bed during the day because it's that bloody cold?

I'm in Oz....it's late Autumn here...or early winter..not sure. Either way, the houses here in S.A. are NOT equipped to cope with cold and I'm so bastard cold that I'm having to get into bed to work in the day!

I work from home at a laptop and as that means I don't move much, I'm icy!

The houses here have no radiators and ours is newish (built late 80s) so has no fireplace either.

It's stupid! The winters are not so mild that you don't want a bloody radiator!

All we have is a crap reverse cycle air conditioner which is meant to either blow cold or hot air....in actual fact it does nothing discernible but push your bills up!

I'm thinking of buying one of those infra-red heaters...are they any use? And AIBU to be in bed in broad daylight with my hood up?

I run my own business from home. A huge proportion of my work happens in bed, snuggled up to a cat. I also take great pleasure in sleeping in most days of I'm not having an early client meeting.

Ah! I feel less guilty now! I always have the idea that I should be sitting at a beautiful desk in the spare room....in business clothes!

Instead I'm usually in pyjamas surrounded by tangerine peel and apple cores.

Working from bed is surely a well deserved reward for working hard enough to allow yourself the freedom to do so . I'd love to work from bed!

I spend my day swanning round the (freezing) house in a fleecy blanket, which I put on my knees like an old lady when I sit down. Bed sounds so much more comfortable

I quite like working from bed, it means I can spread my papers out all over the bed.

I sympathise with you. I'm in London, and despite the fact that it's meant to be summer I've got a jumper on and a fan heater going full blast.

Only the worst of it is that I AM a bloody Pom! I'm English...so I should be used to it! AND I'm a Northerner!

It's just...I dunno...because there's no central heating and the houses are constructed cheaply differently here, they're not very air tight.

I'm in the UK and am currently in bed as it's bloody freezing.

It's "summer" in the UK. We were on the sofa last night under a duvet. I am considering emigrating...but not to somewhere with no heating!!

I won't have the heating on if its just me at home all day so I spend time in bed or wrapped up in a huge crochet blanket (like now). But I grew up in a house with no central heating so it seems pretty normal behaviour to me. But I do like the fact that the heating is on in the morning so I don't have to get dressed under the covers before hitting the bathroom as I used to do when I was little..
