to ask how much money you have in the bank

I don't really talk about money to anyone in real life, other than my DM and DP.

I'm being nosy, I know but a few numbers aren't going to out me!

I get paid on Friday so I currently I have £5.54 in my account and £15k locked away in ISA's and Bonds.

How much do you have in the bank?

Might be worth bearing in mind there will be some posters on here horrendously over-exaggerating....

irregularegular · 02/06/2016 20:34

About 20K in our Santander current account, which pays lots of interest up to 20K so we try to keep it about there. About 100k in everything that isn't locked into a pension. But we're about to use most of it to extend the house, so will be very little very soon.

Basicbrown · 02/06/2016 20:48

What I have in my bank is peanuts compared to some people I know, I'm not boasting, I am very generous and giving.

I'm surprised that people even care what others have in their account. Just because people have posted here or not doesn't change the fact that some people will have millions in the bank and others will be thousands in debt.

I'm in the black for the first time in years. I don't feel envious of others or sad for myself or anything. Hopefully things will improve and if they don't, or get worse, well, I've survived it once, I'll do it again.

horseygeorgie · 02/06/2016 21:16

I find it really interesting!

I have -£4.62. I have about £2k of debt. Have £140 in tomorrow, which is all accounted for. Once I start back to work properly in August I'll be fine and dandy but it is bloody painful currently.

PurpleRainDiamondsandPearls · 02/06/2016 21:23

I've got about £150k in my current account but that's just our usual monthly expenses (food, gas and electricity etc). I can only hope and pray we survive on that amount until pay day at the end of the month. If not, we may have to dip into one of my 8 saving accounts. They're not ridiculous amounts though, they vary between £200k and £500k per account. We're hardly rich though, especially certainly compared to the Russian Oligarch who lives next door. And by 'next door', I mean 3 miles down the road on his private estate. We are good and kind people? I once slowed down to let an old lady cross the road.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 02/06/2016 22:20

Louisee - are you saying I'm exaggerating about my eleventy billion pounds? Shock. How very dare you!

Querty12345 · 02/06/2016 22:21

bibbity I've hacked your accounts so I know for a FACT that you only have 3 billion. Lies. All lies. I will never trust mumsnet again.

justalittlelemondrizzle · 02/06/2016 22:36

-37 till midnight!!!! Still just about in small overdraft. Nothing in savings now as it all went into house purchase.

PurpleRainDiamondsandPearls · 03/06/2016 12:58

Basic it's not cheap to heat a modest 16 bedroom castle. I did include bills for the holiday home in Cannes in my budget. After all, the maid visits every week to collect the post and when she does, she sometimes switches the lights on! I did politely suggest she uses a torch at her own cost but she said she can't afford it which is outrageous because I pay her £1000 per year and she only works full-time for 13 weeks of the year when I send the DC on their own to stay there with her.

OnceThereWasThisGirlWho · 03/06/2016 14:20

I do sympathise, Purple. The staff just never seem to understand the need to economise, do they?

Beeziekn33ze · 03/06/2016 16:23

Yes, noseyrice, YABU IMHO!

Secretselkie17 · 03/06/2016 17:21

£1800ish in joint working account
£500 in emergency savings (enough for new washing machine, car repairs or similar)
£2.5k in my ISA, £1.5k in hubby's ISA
£3k in main savings account (usually more but just paid out a lot for a Caribbean Cruise & Xmas in Disneyworld Grin and an eye watering amount for various Uni costs for our 2 older girls Shock)

falange · 03/06/2016 20:04

36 quid to last 12 days until payday. Will use £10 for petrol. The rest will go on food. 5k savings I never touch for when I get made redundant. That will give me a few months grace to find a job. Money is the biggest thing I worry about.

IFinishedTheBiscuits · 03/06/2016 23:20

Could say in complete honesty we had £80,000 in joint current account until fairly recently. Now have £30,000 but...

... this was the first stage-payment of a self-build mortgage. The mortgage company lends you money in stages and you use it to build a house. So it's really a debt and it was never 'our' money.

Although this is probably fairly unusual I'd still be sceptical about other claims of riches. Generally we're just in the black at the end of each month.

Modus · 04/06/2016 22:17

Is everyone crazy posting details of their finances?? Have you not heard about personal profiles being hacked on other sites and theft of personal data?? Please be more careful everyone!!!

Kikipie · 04/06/2016 22:27

Yes - my bank login is Kikipie Hmm
