to ask how much money you have in the bank

I don't really talk about money to anyone in real life, other than my DM and DP.

I'm being nosy, I know but a few numbers aren't going to out me!

I get paid on Friday so I currently I have £5.54 in my account and £15k locked away in ISA's and Bonds.

How much do you have in the bank?

17p.
I don't have an overdraft.
I don't have a savings account. I literally have that 17p and about £3 in change on the side.

Usually about -2000, plus loans and credit cards. We have weird money that I don't believe exists in some bizarre thingy my Dad left me. No idea how to access it or anything, so just pretend it doesn't exist. If anyone else said that I would be horrified and insist they find out what it is, but I really can't be bothered. I did get worried and ring up the tax people in case we should be paying tax on anything but they seemed to think not. Very rum.

Not quite enough for a deposit on the house we want.

thatorchidmoment · 01/06/2016 14:11

About £11000 in account (just after DH payday). We are moving across the pond for a few months, while still maintaining a mortgage here, so a big chunk of that will be going on rent and living expenses over there. It's not long since we were getting really low by the end of each month though: I'm making an effort to cut down on expenses and delay big spending decisions until after we come back.
Plenty of equity tied up in our home: we bought a wreck of a house for £320k almost 3 years ago and have been slowly renovating it ourselves. Most properties in our area are near the £800-900k mark, so we figure that in time maybe retirement age we will have our forever home, or be able to sell at a profit.
I realise we are majorly privileged compared to many. My DH got on the property ladder when he was in his early 20s ten years ago, and we can afford for me to stay at home with our 3 children. So while I might wish for a more luxurious house like my neighbours, there are not many who are in such a relatively good position as we are!

(Sorry for essay)

AStreetcarNamedBob · 01/06/2016 14:13

about £30k easily accessible and another few hundred thousand that would take a little while to get

Abbinob · 01/06/2016 14:16

-£8 something, because I forgot about the TV liscence coming out Angry
Dp has 1,300ish as just got paid and not yet paid the bills or rent though, we only ever have money in one account at a time cause I get paid 2 weeks after dp

Kikipie · 01/06/2016 14:19

About £38k I can lay my hands on now and £150k in investments that will be available in stages starting next month, up to about 4 years time

dizzytomato · 01/06/2016 14:21

I have about r$5000 in my personal account (about £1000) and roughly the same in the household account, DH has about r$10,000 in his (about £2000) We also have a lot in savings as DH gets contract work occasionally, where he gets an average of 10,000 USD for a months work and our day to day living costs are really low.

JaceLancs · 01/06/2016 14:21

It's in the red

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 01/06/2016 14:21

-£300 in one
About a fiver in another.
About £80 in savings.
And lots of credit card debt.

Pinkheart5915 · 01/06/2016 14:25

Nothing, I'm overdrawn.

LBOCS2 · 01/06/2016 14:32

About £10k. We're in the process of selling a house though so we'll be a lot more cash rich soon...!

witsender · 01/06/2016 14:33

A couple of grand in current account. About 2k across various day to day savings 'pots' (Christmas, holiday etc), about £20k from an inheritance but that won't be there for long as is going to do a chunk of mortgage. About 5k in a longer term savings acct.

MardAsSnails · 01/06/2016 14:35

Between us around 9k in current accounts (pay day for both of us)

In the safe, around 10k. Emergency funds and holiday spends.

FozBoz · 01/06/2016 14:40

About 60k but just about to extend our house. Tbf, we bought a small hovel and have lived frugally for years and years.

I am off to investigate current accounts now though. Not much happening in ISAs.

OnceThereWasThisGirlWho · 01/06/2016 14:42

Approx £4000 in current account.

Am on disbaility benefits and have a sort of DWP-enforced saving scheme (which encourges a boom-and-bust approach). Basically, every time they assess or re-assses for benefits it takes so long, I'm living on the breadline, getting closer to the day I can't pay my rent (am under 35 so without PIP my Housing Benefit drops to shared accomodation rate), then they decide I am entitled and pay a lump sum of backdated benefits into my account.

This also triggers junk mail offering credit cards and loans. Hmm

Greenyogagirl · 01/06/2016 14:44

Seems everyone is at one extreme or the other! It's interesting to see actually though obviously you guys with thousands in savings I'm very jealous!

Pepperpot99 · 01/06/2016 14:52
