to ask how much money you have in the bank

I don't really talk about money to anyone in real life, other than my DM and DP.

I'm being nosy, I know but a few numbers aren't going to out me!

I get paid on Friday so I currently I have £5.54 in my account and £15k locked away in ISA's and Bonds.

How much do you have in the bank?

OP posts:
bibbitybobbityyhat · 01/06/2016 21:44

Stupid, stupid, stupid thread.

What does it tell us?

Some people have a lot of money in the bank and some don't.

Alert the media!

bumbleclat · 01/06/2016 21:46

I have had my contribution to this thread deleted because I think this kind of thread makes us all really vulnerable to hacking/fraud etc.
Thankfully they have agreed to take it down.
I feel silly for even entering this info onto the internet (I spend all week at school teaching my pupils about internet safety)

GirlOutNumbered · 01/06/2016 21:47

What on earth are you worried about?
Do you think someone is going to steal your money, from your mumsnet details?

bumbleclat · 01/06/2016 21:48

The way hackers work is beyond my understanding but I know that we are a lot less protected online than we realise.

GirlOutNumbered · 01/06/2016 21:50

What exactly are you teaching kids?! Sounds like you are not sure yourself.

HappiestMummyAlive · 01/06/2016 21:50

A lot of you are over reacting, I don't know how a bank balance can make any of you feel vulnerable, in anyway?

Are you scared that you are going to wake up tomorrow and check your bank balance to see that it is at £0.00? Banks cover us from fraud.

But hey, maybe this thread should be deleted for a peace of mind.

bumbleclat · 01/06/2016 21:52

As pleasant as you sound, girloutnumbered I'm simply just flagging up a potential risk, you can share whatever you like, I just don't think it's advisable or indeed wise to post a collection of our bank balances on here.

StrawberrytallCake · 01/06/2016 21:55

The thing is Girl hackers are a constantly evolving species and to know exactly the ins and outs isn't possible. Also (for the first time ever) did you mean to be so rude?

Happiest I'm sure it couldn't happen straight away but identifying victims would be easy looking through this thread. I guess it wouldn't really matter how long it took - I'm sure criminals aren't just interested in bank accounts either.

CraftyPenguin · 01/06/2016 21:57

-£163 (unauthorised overdraft). Bit of a bad month.

summerdreams · 01/06/2016 22:04

£80 left on my overdraft Smile

DownWithThisSortaThing · 01/06/2016 22:12

About £80. No savings, but no debts either.

Gide · 01/06/2016 22:14

Lots and lots in ISAs and property.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 01/06/2016 22:25

I think it is dull more than dangerous.

Please someone start a genuinely interesting thread!

WalkingBlind · 01/06/2016 22:26

They can hack me all they like, if they want a pointless endevour Grin There's a positive figure in my account for all of 3 seconds max because everything goes in and out on the same day lol. I'd only be worried about posting if i had something worth stealing

NerrSnerr · 01/06/2016 22:32

Come on then bib. If you want interesting threads then start some!

StrawberrytallCake · 01/06/2016 22:32

Please someone start a genuinely interesting thread!

Also this - one that doesn't get deleted would be a bonus Grin

bibbitybobbityyhat · 01/06/2016 22:34

Yes an interesting thread that isn't pure goad or troll. Please.

SpiceLinerandHoneyLove · 01/06/2016 22:57

A couple of hundred in mine, a couple of thousand in DH's to last until next payday. About four thousand in savings (we overpay on the mortgage more than save) and a couple of small, short term saving accounts with about five hundred each for spending money for our summer holiday and to pay for the next part of renovating the house.
We save about £300 a month which isn't masses but we have no debts other than the mortgage.

inlectorecumbit · 01/06/2016 23:14

A recent large inheritance means we would have enough to retire however we have decided to give DC's 1/4 each to get them well established on property ladder.
Just means l can go part time now.

Oliviaerinpope · 01/06/2016 23:17

Lots, but my DH would be furious if I disclosed the amount, even on here Grin

Sparklingbrook · 02/06/2016 07:01

What an odd thread. And where's the OP? Confused

Notsunkinyet · 02/06/2016 12:45
  • £350 my account
  • £150 joint account
No savings I'm not good with money but then I am on maternity leave Anyone else like this?!!!
mysteriousbat · 02/06/2016 13:27

Not as much as I would like, but enough to get by

ArvidsDaddy · 02/06/2016 17:56

wish I was rich...
wish everyone had what they need, particularly that half-term mum with £9..
wish the wealth was more even distributed...

Unicorntrainer · 02/06/2016 19:50

About £100 but get paid tomorrow. But DD's hen weekend so that will vanish pdq. But paid of £45000 of
marriage debt, worth every penny. When wedding is over I should be on the outside edge of being able to save a bit.
