Disney channel teen crap for 6yo

Trying to get a bit of perspective please, 6yo has discovered the utter shite on the Disney Channel at grandmas and some of the stuff on Netflix at ours eg my babysitters a vampire, Sam and Kat (I think), KC Undercover. I've sat and watched with her and both Grandma and I HATE the stuff. It's inane, irritating and I think has far too much about "hanging out" and "guys" and generally the whole cool/bitchy/jock/geeky split that seems to exist solely on US TV.

Her cousins (1y older +) however are allowed.

So I'm currently in a running battle with her to put on more suitable programmes and I want to check I'm right and it's worth the constant bloody whining!

Add in to the mix she has two younger siblings.

So are you for/anti that type of programming?

My Dd did the same. It was 'I fucking Carly'. And some the shit you mention.

I let her watch it. She quickly got bored and never watched them again, even though she is now in an age bracket to watch them.

Quite honestly I am fairly relaxed about to viewing. It hasn't damaged mine. I think making an issue out of it makes them want to watch it more. Dd has always been allowed to watch films with older ratings as long as I have seen it. I can judge what will upset her.

She has turned out fine.

DD1 is slightly older but went through that phase as well with Jessie, iCarly and all that crap. We let her watch it to an extent but I would occasionally point out the casual stereotyping of characters (the nasty British nanny with bad teeth & the naive little Indian lad in Jessie for example).
I was quite pleased when she moved to mind bending stuff like Adventure Time and Steven Universe tbh!

Love and adventure time and Steven! That's a far more entertaining phase!!

I'm the same as curren and yes iCarly haunted me . My eldest two are now almost 11 and 8 - they watched Disney Channel stuff a couple of years ago. They got bored pretty quickly with it and don't bother with it now.
I don't tie myself up in knots with tv or screen time or ratings. I watch a bit with them, if they replicate behaviour that I don't like from a tv show, hey get the sharp end of my tongue, it works for us.

Ok thanks all I am going to give a big sigh of relief and back off the tv policing. Then buy earplugs.

Our latest 'must watch' is YouTube vids of grown adults pretending to be Elsa and Spiderman. Just, why??

We stopped paying for the Disney channels

They were lots and lots make up most of the programmes are abut superstar children eg being famous and they never listen to there parents cbbc is fine

Hodooooor I do! Doesn't mean it's not a battle, the whining! And begging! And stropping! Shes generally a good girl for context, excellent at school but she's 6 so when she infrequently gets one on her you know about it. She gets frustrated that the little ones get "baby" tv.

Cat - we don't have it at home but she's found equal trash on Netflix. They are awful!

How - whaaat? Ok tell me I have a few more years before YouTube kicks in??

Having said all that she's now dancing with the one year old to Mother Goose Club to make me feel bad.

I'd rather watch iCarly on loop that have to watch the Mother Goose club .

But why when they are so HAPPY and SMILEY and full of JOY.
