I just stumbled across this searching for something else;

www.swindon.gov.uk/info/20025/homes_and_property/237/immigration_home_inspection

And another council;

gateshead.gov.uk/Housing/helpsupportadvice/immigration.aspx

It sounds draconian. I'm assuming it is connected to Tory 'reforms' but I can't find the answer.

Full answer anyway.

It sounds as though it's something you have to do to sponsor someone coming in, along with the minimum income thing.

www.propertyinspectionreport.co.uk/index.php/faq-property-inspection-report

This seems to contain a link to where the requirement is set out.

I don't see the point in it tbh. You could easily just move stuff out, have inspection and then move back! Plus how are you going to show the spouse will actually live there?!

Yes. You could rent somewhere larger for 6 months; Anything really.
