false nails and fake tan at nursery

Okay I'm a little bit shocked but trying not to be judgy! I'm sat in a waiting room and a little girl about 3 has just come to be my friend (as you do) her mum had laughed and apologises and we have started chatting. At her daughters day care they do her nails and hair and makeup and even put fake tan on... Is this the norm? Am I completely out of touch to be shocked and a little bit appalled at the idea of fake tan on 3 year olds? I'm all for play time dress up but to that extent!?

My little niece loves having her nails done like mummy and her big sister but fake tan is a bit far! At her last school disco, a little girl turned up with massive hair and full make up on. She's 5 ffs! Let kids be kids and stop trying to get them to grow up so quickly

For various reasons I find this hard to believe is true. Apart from the obvious reasons, which are so obvious I won't list, the cost alone would prevent it. I think someone is stretching the truth here!

No idea but I think DS would look fabulous if he came home from nursery like that.

A room full of toddlers get themselves messy enough without the adults needing to introduce fake tan in to the equation.

Day care isn't a common term in Britain, so perhaps OP is elsewhere?

Vocational goat I bloody hope so! The reason it came up is the little girl showing me her sparkly nails and eyes. Mum then began telling me about the daycare her friend runs and I should keep it in mind...

There's a person on my FB who has allowed her 8 year old to have an account and without fail every photo of this child looks like she's dressed to go clubbing. I really have to sit on my hands sometimes.

The children in my nursery do play hairdressers but they improvise with pencils for curlers and old mobile phones as hairdryers

Your OP isn't clear - was the little girl who came up to you actually wearing fake tan?

My four year son frequently has silver nails if he manages to break through the bathroom door when I'm painting my toenails, so I wouldn't take a great deal of notice of that, but I have great difficulty believing that a nursery exists which is in fact a beautician for pre-schoolers.

They paint kids nails and attempt to run a brush through hair on occasion at our nursery.

Butteredup she was brown but I just thought normal kid playing out tan nothing special. But mum was telling me about a pamper and play day care her friend has set up where they get their hair and nails and makeup and fake tan etc as well as playing for the day. I made a joke something like "and that's just for the dads" and she said quite simply "no for the kiddies". I've seen things like this on towie glamour parties for kids etc but I just couldn't believe it was a day care model and wanted to check it wasn't me completely out of touch!

Can one ask roughly where in the country this unlikely-sounding operation runs???

Pamper and play daycare? I wonder what Ofsted would make of that!

Shakirasma thats exactly what i'm thinking, i work in a college and we live in fear of bloody ofsted lol

In the school holidays the preschool section of DD's nursery would maybe on one occasion 'do nails' mainly as a 'holiday treat' for children in holiday club and the full timers. Everyone was done boys and male staff included, they all loved it and at the beginning of the holidays they would immediately ask when was 'nail day'. No fake tan and no hair styles. They also had a mud kitchen in the garden.
