To ask for tumble dryer repair?

Bastard tumble dryer not working. It was delivered on 14/05/2015. So 1 week out of warranty.

Have phoned the company who I bought it from who have directed me to the manufacturer. They are closed today so will call them in the morning. Lady I spoke.to was uncertain if they would send an engineer as it's a week outside the 12 months.

If they don't what do I say to get them to fix it? I am pretty certain that the standard 12 months doesn't apply as it would be reasonable to expect a new tumble dryer to last longer than 12 months. Or am ibu and should just sick it up as I didn't purchase the warranty?

I would definitely try for a free repair using 'fit for purpose' angle under the Sale of Goods act as it is indeed reasonable to consider a tumble dyer to last more than 12 months. It's worked for me on several occasions.

I say it wasnt fit for purpose if it broke so soon as you expect it to last longer. Talk to cab

And of course it is raining and I don't actually have a washing line anyway and I have a load washed and a half dry load to try and finish off.

I managed 35 years without a tumble dryer but am obviously now on the gin with the sheer panic of having to actually dry and then probably iron clothes.

I don't actually know where the iron is. Ffs.

Launderette in the interim just to dry stuff?

Depending on the manufacturer, you may be better off going to the retailer, and asking about an out of warranty claim.

That's what I will do Tigger if I get no joy in the morning. BIG retailer so hopefully will get some joy from them.

Am more annoyed with myself for not remembering to check when the 12 months was up. I have a washing machine by the same manufacturer and it's been pure shite. Luckily the first breakdown was 1 month before the 12 months was up and the engineer warned me the washer was a bit of a stinker so took the warranty. Claimed on it 3 times since and it's still only 2 years old. Major stuff too.

Will definitely be taking the warranty for tumble dryer once this is resolved and never ever buying that brand again.

Errrm, under eu law all electrical goods are supposed to have a two year warranty. Aren't they?
