To always confuse 'Baker Street' with 'Layla'?

DH thinks I'm bonkers and that they have nothing at all in common but every time either is on the radio I always get confused. Baker Street is on now and Dh got in there first and said, 'hey love, Layla's on the radio' and it took me a few bars to realise he was taking the piss.

Surely it's not just me?

Yes, it's just you!

Guitar or saxaphone

Gerry Rafferty or Eric Clapton

Middle of the road or searing angst

As you say, not at all alike Grin

StuRedman · 17/05/2016 18:26

I thought it might be just me! Any idea at all why they are so mixed up in my head?

It's just you.

wasonthelist · 17/05/2016 18:27

It really is just you and your 70s radio station Smile

scarednoob · 17/05/2016 18:31

Definitely just you. I am trying now and can't see how they are at all alike! :)

scarednoob · 17/05/2016 18:32

However, it is absolutely impossible for 2 people to sing the theme tunes to "the flumps" and "the pink panther" at the same time. One of you will get sucked into following the other, like a convent of nuns on their periods!

Backingvocals · 17/05/2016 18:33

Actually I have never thought this before but now you've put this in my mind I do actually see your point.

VulcanWoman · 17/05/2016 18:34

Bloody love those two songs.

AlbusPercival · 17/05/2016 18:47

It's not just you OP I do the same!

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 17/05/2016 18:48

Baker Street is one of my top ten songs, it uplifts me whenever I play it.

WordGetsAround · 17/05/2016 18:49

Can't believe there are two of you! Both brilliant songs, although Layla is absolutely perfect!

Oldraver · 17/05/2016 18:51

How could you....Baker Street is such dross, I have to turn the radio off if it comes on

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 17/05/2016 18:52

.Baker Street is such dross, whatttttttttttttttt ;Shock

StuRedman · 17/05/2016 18:58

Grin Yay! Other people who get it!

I always loved the rumour that it was Bob 'I'll have a D please Bob' Holness who did the Baker Street sax bit

BestIsWest · 17/05/2016 19:03

Nope. Completely different but love them both.

AlbusPercival · 17/05/2016 19:05

It's the opening bit. Clearly once they sing I know the difference Grin

The80sweregreat · 17/05/2016 19:08

Totally different songs.
Love them both.

pigsDOfly · 17/05/2016 19:18

Can see why you get confused OP and they're both great but Baker Street just hits me every time I hear it; mainly because it reminds me of so many amazing times, and that sax just takes me right back to those times every single time I hear it.
