aibu with the mil?

MIL wanted to take DC to a travelling fair close to us.Previous to her offer, DP and I had already decided that we didn't want them to go down there. I explained to her our reasons:(a) we feel its a waste of money, (b) DS is really too old for the rides and more importantly (c) it's an annual event that nearly always ends up with trouble kicking off down there.

I said they were fine to go to the park etc but because its not her way she's decided to go to church and not see them.

(c) is the clincher. Your decision and yours alone. MIL is cutting off her nose to spite her face but that's her choice. You are right and she is wrong.

Up until point c I was going with yabvu but if it is a trouble spot then that should be reason enough. However I don't have a mil anymore as she died when dd was only a few weeks old so I miss that dd won't get the time with her that her brother and sister got (my dscs). On the other hand my own mother does precisely sweet FA with dd unless it involves me taking her to mum's house.
