To still be scared of being home alone?

DP is away with work for the next 4 maybe 5 nights depending on the booze consumption so it's just me and DC.
I'm 30 years old and can still probably do with this monster spray. thank good for DC's night light

Anyone else think that the boogie man is waiting round the corner and ready to get you when your home alone?

Yes! When I get up at night for a wee (about hourly at the moment), I always run back into bed just in case anything grabs me!

I used to be a big old baby but then met DH who works away often and now I'm happier alone. Plus, nobody on earth would be mad enough to enter this house at night because the kids farts in their sleep are so evil you'd die if you were suddenly exposed.

Though, there was a thread on here recently about beds and everyone agreed they hate divans. When I watched the episode of Luther with the man under the bed I bought myself a divan the same day because I was too terrified to even breathe. So I'm not as brave as I think. Several years later DH still has no idea why this divan just appeared. I will never tell him.

Yes op I'm terrified. Rewatching Luther at the minute too TheFuckersBitingMe and I'm bloody terrified when I go and make the night feed. The bloke under the bed and that guy in the mask who kidnapped those children .

Jesus don't watch scary things on tv.

I hate going back to an empty house As it reminds me of being burgled and they were in the house and ran out as I entered so yes hate that.

Nights ok as have teenage sons and dds as dh works away.

When they all out for the night I lock my Bed room door And cuddle the dog all night

I hate it too. I've just done two nights alone with my 2 DC. I put them both in my bed and locked my bedroom door. They're both under 5 so no way would they protect me from anything but it just made me feel safer for some reason.

Seriously though, I haven't been worried about anything made-up since I was a child (and maybe not then). I used to walk home through the un-lit graveyard from Brownies without a care in the world.

Note to self. Do not watch Luther.

DD is 10 weeks so no way she is protecting me. I don't have a door lock either and because of DD our protector cats (3 of them) are no longer allowed the run of the house at night

I am frightened and I am a pensioner. I know it is ridiculous but when my Dp is away my imagination runs riot as we live in a big isolated house. However I have felt better since I had three big dead locks put on the door. I keep my phone beside my bed and that can't be cut off.

My neighbour is a widow and also has a big isolated house. She told me the other night that she had called the police as a sensor light went on in her garden. They were very nice to her when they came. Remarkable that they came really.

I know all the statistics, and I know the chances of anything happening to me in my own home are remote but ..................

No, I was a single parent for a while so was forced to get used to being alone.

I also don't watch anything scary on tv and that helps.

I love a few days home alone. I'm never worried as long as I remember to lock up before I go to bed, once I've done the ceremonious double checking of the doors I'm ok.

However I do have to keep all limbs firmly under the duvet as it's a well known fact that whatever is hiding under your bed will grab them as soon as they are uncovered.

My DP often goes fishing over a weekend. I used to hate it but am not too bad now... I sometimes leave the landing light on or leave the TV on really low volume in the bedroom so I don't get freaked out by every little sound. My 2 DC (6&9) also sleep in my room! I have been known to ask my mum to sleep over 😂

When I was small I was scared of something grabbing my ankles so used to jump into bed. Made the mistake of confessing this to my brother once who regularly used to hide under the bed and grab my ankles from then on.
For some reason when I'm alone I often think about that guy at the start of Sixth Sense.
"Do you know why you're afraid when you're alone? I do...."

I relish the opportunity to have a night alone in my house when DP works away (which isn't very often these days). I love eating whatever I fancy for dinner and watching what I want on TV then climbing into our (divan) bed (phew!) all alone and stretching out!

Saying that, I've got 2 giant dogs that I like to think no monster/bogeyman would get past. In truth they'd probably lick him to death...

That episode of Luther was the stuff of nightmares!
I'm a lone parent with a 3 year old and have got used to being on my own at night.
Just don't watch anything scary!
I was putting stuff up in my loft last night which did spook me a bit tbh, and I did have to stick my head up first to check there wasn't anyone up there!

Can you get a wireless alarm system? That way you can have a sensor on every door and window, we did when we lived in a big old house in a remote area. Also had a panic button by the bed that was rigged to the local police station, and cctv linked to my phone so I could check the doors in the night. I was so paranoid I used to lock myself into the bedroom at night when home alone!

Now I love living in a small house. I can hear everything from any room so would hear if anyone broke in. And we are overlooked by neighbours, with adjoining walls both sides which makes me feel safe as they'd hear if I screamed.
