Weymouth has a great beach, and plenty of places to eat. Easy drive to Dorchester that has some lovely restaurants, and loads of attractions/days out within easy driving distance. It's about five years since we were last down there, but it was a great family week away Smile

Oh, just seen walking distance. There were lots of restaurants/chippies/pubs within walking distance of the beach in Weymouth.

West Bay and Bridport are lovely.

It's my favourite place in the world right now!
Core has the lovely castle and steam railway down to Swanage
Weymouth has the short drive out to Portland with the castle and right on Chesil beach
Lyme Regis is just beautiful and you can spend hours hunting for fossils
Other attractions like monkey world, the tank museum, aquariums in Bournemouth and Weymouth, the county town of Dorchester and surrounding beautiful countryside that inspired Hardy.
I live on the Dorset/Hants border and would suggest staying over on the West side of the county. Or on 'my' side which also has the magnificent New Forest. Basically, just avoid Bournemouth centre as its full of
Stag and hen parties right now! (I may be biased as just had to spend an age in traffic!)

As you have acknowledged you are posting in the wrong place so for that you are being annoying but non unreasonable.

Have a look at Owners Direct of looking for a holiday home to rent. They are very good and your contact is with the owner so can advise you or answer questions directly. Hope you have a nice holiday!

If you are with kids I would say swanage. We are going soon for the 4th year running Smile

Beth2511 · 07/05/2016 13:52

Swanage or Bridport. Definitely my two favourites and lived in dorset for 22 years!

I agree with SilverBirch! We stayed in West Bay over Easter and it was just wonderful. Full of lovely places to at and within walking distance of Bridport.

We also spent a day in Weymouth, Abbotsbury and Charmouth.
