AIBU to have my DS Christened?

I would like my DS Christened and would like to have a proper do (friends, family, church and after-do) but my family hate each other (separated parents and both sides can't stand the other side) to the point where they would be garunteed to fight They refuse to be in the same room and I dont prefer either side over the other. However my siblings are on "one side" and I'd like them as godparents.

The solution would be to just have parents and godparents there right? I know. But my friends are excited for the event and not to mention DS's dad and his whole family are very close and would all be gutted to miss out. I am with DS's dad and would enjoy having them all there. Why should everyone have to miss out because they're so petty!

Do I just not invite any of my own family? Do I invite them all and let them know the others are also invited so it's their choice if they turn up or not? Or do I just not get it done and sulk?

Personally I would invite them all and point out that anyone who starts any silly nonsense will no longer be a part of ds's life. Full stop.

No listening to any shite about he said, she said. All arguments are brokered with - it is a day for my child, and everyone knows they are invited and what will happen if they don't.
And mean it!

What holiday said. If they can be so immature on a day of celebrations then they don't deserve to be invited to anything in the future. My parents are split up but I know they would put aside any differences for me or my daughter so we could have a nice day. X

Tell them they can all come but if any of them start arguing, they will be thrown out.

That ceremony isn't about them, it's about your child.
