Can't wait until she goes (v. Small moan)

It is a very small moan but I can not wait for my mil to go. DP changes and regresses to his teenage self and becomes argumentative and whinny, mil likes to be waited on hand and foot and dog is in a clingy mood. Mil is here longer than oringally invited for and I spent the day entertaining her whilst he worked (despite not knowing if I have a job tomorrow). I suggested that DP take her out for a long walk with the dog but he got pissy when I asked if he was still planing on going as it was getting dark. AIBU to be counting down the hours until I need to be in work tomorrow and she goes??? Like I said very small moan but had enough

No YANBU - I've spent more time than I could publicly admit to counting down the hours to the end of uncomfortable/unhappy situations! It sort of keeps you grounded for the duration, IMO.

I just wish she would not drink my wine. This weekend she has drunk three bottles and opened a new one despite there being a half filled bottle next to it in the fridge

Did you ask her why she opened a new bottle? Did she bring any with her? At least my lot bring their own!

Drinking your wine is completely unacceptable unless she brought several with her.

My responsible reasonable DH turns into the court jester when he's around ILs. I feel your pain.

One year, I'd had a stretch in hospital and wasn't really able to walk, pretty serious and worrying time. My mil came to stay, the usual length of time is a few days. She stayed for two weeks. I was the hostess with the mostest as far as I could be. It killed me. I know she was alone and loved the company, but the timing was bloody awful.

Sorry, totally pointless thread hijack. At least my mil doesn't drink!

No I did not ask her, I just gave a look. And no she did not bring any with her (she never does. I always end up hiding the good stuff)

She forgot to bring deodorant so I gave her a new and unused one and she questioned why I would not want it back. Is that bu?

Someone else's underarm juice on your deodorant. Sends shivers just thinking about it.

I sympathise. We have Fil over once a week for dinner. He won't drive himself anymore due to his paranoid delusions and depression, he's lost his confidence and thinks people will crash into him. We have to go and pick him up and then run him back late at night. He won't come if he doesn't like what I'm cooking, despite not having seen his grandchildren all week. He never offers any money for fuel. He farts in my car all the way home. There's a whole other back story, he's lucky Dh still has contact with him. I can't not have him over, I'd feel really mean, but I too count the hours.

Sorry - the straw was for the abandoned half-bottle of wine
