There's been a crime in my local town, which involved the destruction of a number of trees (I've seen these) and possibly a hit and run by a drunk-driver.
I overheard a conversation today between 2 shop workers, whose names I don't know, but who would be very easy for the police to trace, where one stated the drunk driver was their mutual friend's boyfriend, and said the tree damage was linked to a hit and run last night. I've looked on local news and can't see any reports.
I didn't say anything at the time because I was badly hurt in a hit and run myself years ago, so was shaken to hear what they were saying. When I got home I contacted Crimestoppers but the advisor there said they can't suggest witnesses to the police - so they can't tell the police 'the 2 women who work at x know who did it and should be interviewed'.
It may be they have caught him already, though I can't see any reports. Do I leave this, or should I try 101 next? Anyone work for the police who could advise? I can't stand the thought this guy could get away with it, or be free to do even worse.
