To wish my DP wouldn't half-heartedly offer me a lift?

Been away for over a week with work. I'm wrecked, fed up and just want to get home. DP is off work today and we live 10 minutes from the airport (if no traffic).

He offered to pick me up, I said great, that would be lovely etc, rather than waiting for a taxi.

Then he asks what time flight gets in (he knows when ot gets in

Whoops.

Then says "oh I dunno, traffic will be really bad for me getting there, but I'll come if you want me to".

Then when I land he says "do you want me to pick you up? I can if you want but it will take ages".

Well what's the point in that? AIBU to think if he wanted to actually be helpful then he'd have left when he knew I was nearly here? What's the point in waiting until I've phoned a taxi then offering to set off, meaning I'd be waiting about 30 mins or more.

Then after I've been waiting 30 minutes for the taxi he offers again to set off,meaning I'd be standing in the rain and cold for an hour.

Too flipping late, pal.

OK, maybe I'm being ungrateful!

I just think he offered knowing that if he left it too late to leave then I'd have to decline because it's pointless as after a certain point a taxi would be quicker. So he waited until after that point to offer, because he didn't really want to come. If he really wanted to pick me up and be helpful he'd have left over an hour ago.

Don't offer if you don't want to do it!

Id tell him to not bother and jump a taxi it sounds like he cant be arsed for whatever reason

I know exactly where you're coming from, I had an ex the same. If you dont want to do something, grow a pair and tell me... don't try and make me cancel! Used to drive me crazy.

araiba because in traffic (he claims) it might take 30 minutes to get there. It wouldn't though because the traffic would be long gone.

And I'd been standing in the cold for 30 minutes waiting for the taxi when he (fake) offered (again) to set off. Which is no use to me!

I did, (and added that I'd rather he didn't offer at all rather than fake offer, as it's really annoying). Now he's acting like a little wounded soul.

I saw he got a taxi sorry my dh can be an arse like this drives me nuts a simple yes or no will do its the umming and ahhing tha t annoys me

Although you could fake-accept the first offer, not answer your phone after that and arrive at your house as he fake-sets off. Although that would be quite meta.

At one point (after me having stood for 30 minutes waiting for the taxi) he texted saying he was "sitting in the car on the driveway ready to leave, just say the word" Hmm

I'm missing the point of the thread here, but I'm so jealous that you live ten minutes from an airport. We have to travel an hour to the nearest one, but can't get flights from there. The next nearest is two hours away, but no long haul flights. We usually have to drive four hours to an airport.

Oh yes, and I think that your husband should have been waiting for you at the airport!
