So this may be TMi for some people but really needed advise! DD4 13 has had bloody, mucusy, diarrhoea tummy cramp, a lump and fatigue. We went to GP she sent us to hospitial, they did bloods stool sample and felt her tummy. Results came back inconclusive. But they believe it Chrones. Although it is not contagious she hasn't been in school. (she's going to toilet 6-12 times a day!) shes getting sick of it all been going on for 3 and a half weeks they said they where going to get an urgent appointment with the gastro doctors to do thurther tests (Colonoscopy ect.) I was hoping it would be soon but the appointment isnt till 28th of may! I just dont know how me or DD can cope. Just need advice and hand holding really. She's going so often, she's upset (so am i!), in pain, worried and thinking about the future. I just need advice and some hand holding really don't know how to cope to appointment seems ages away.

Sorry to hear your plight. It's hard when children are ill and diagnosis is difficult as it is. Waiting for so long is unacceptable. Can you keep calling the hospital in hope of a cancellation so they could get you in sooner? Or if you have private insurance could you see a specialist privately? Might be worth paying a bit to save you and your DD so much waiting agony.

Dont have private insurance unfortunately! But will look into it! I will call for cancellations thats a good idea!

That does seem a really long time in a child with that history . Can you go back to GP and see if they can ring the on call paediatric gastro team if you live near a big hospital to discuss with them ? Some smaller hospitals have an urgent appointment system for children who's symptoms do not necessarily warrant admission but that cannot wait for a long period of time , again usually accessed through GP ringing in call paediatric team. You may not see the gastro team but should see an consultant paediatrician who can hopefully speed things up

Poor thing. :( As she can't go to school, you could phone the clinic and ask to be contacted in case of any last minute cancellations.

I don't think it's a terrible wait (not great either to be honest though..) but I understand that with a poorly child, it feels like it to you. In the mean time, has she been given a trial of steroids?

Is she losing weight, by the way? Also, is she keeping down fluids? If she's losing weight and getting dehydrated, that does make it more urgent.

Yes shes lost 6 pound in a month but i make sure she drinks. and no she hasnt been given a trial of steriods

she also has joint pain. especially in back and knees

Sorry but that's quite realistic for an urgent appointment (ex clinic coordinator). I'd recommend calling and asking to speak to the paediatric gastro coordinator and ask to be put on their cancellation list. If you tell them you can be flexible over which consultant you see and can get there with short notice you could get seen earlier.

Re name changed! to mention today and yesterday she hasnt gone to the toliet. So we believe shes gone from one extreme to the other and is now constipated!
