I don't "do" celebs, but I'm proper gutted and have shed a tear. I really feel a loss today.

I had no idea she was ill so it has come as a surprise to read this news. 2016 is not being a good year for celebrities, a lot of losses...

Costacoffeeplease · 20/04/2016 16:01

I'm the same, rarely affected by a celebrity's death on an emotional level but I'm really shocked today

FishOn · 20/04/2016 16:02

Me too Sad

My dad died the same age. Much too young.

LuckyBitches · 20/04/2016 16:02

YANBU - I like her. I never thought she was outrageously funny, but was lovely to watch anyway.

ShowOfHands · 20/04/2016 16:03

I'm desperately sad. I've been lobbying MNHQ for a webchat with her for ages. dinnerladies remains the best sitcom ever written imho.

Such a wonderful wit. What a terrible loss.

Grumpyoldblonde · 20/04/2016 16:04

Yanbu - I grew up watching her and she felt like someone I almost knew - a comic genius but an 'everywoman' at the same time. Extremely sad.

BoopTheSnoot · 20/04/2016 16:06

YANBU. She was a frequent visitor to the area where I live and DH regularly served her at work. By all accounts, she was a lovely lady and very down to earth.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 20/04/2016 16:07

I'm really saddened by the news too Sad.

She was my all time favourite comedian - and dinnerladies one of very few series I can watch over & over and still find hilarious.

Chippednailvarnish · 20/04/2016 16:08

Beat me on the bottom with a Woman's weekly

Hilarious

Sad
mrsmeerkat · 20/04/2016 16:08

terrible loss. Rip

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 20/04/2016 16:08

Sorry, posted too soon.

RIP Victoria, thank you for being wonderful at what you did.

temporaryname99 · 20/04/2016 16:09

No! I hadn't heard. I was just thinking the other day about Friday nights in with my mum when I was a teenager and laughing ourselves silly over "Acorn antiques" and "two soups".
Really sad.

WordGetsAround · 20/04/2016 16:09

I'm similar - never really feel the sadness of other celebrity deaths but totally gutted by the news.

BoopTheSnoot · 20/04/2016 16:10

SantasLittleMonkeyButler I used to absoluely LOVE Dinner Ladies, I thought VC and Julie Walters were amazing together on it.

Agreed.

ShowOfHands · 20/04/2016 16:12

"I’ve already had three near death experiences… the last one, there was a light at the end of a long, dark passage and Dusty Springfield was beckoning to me with a lovely smile… turned out I’d passed out in the Mersey Tunnel with a drag act.”

gleegeek · 20/04/2016 16:17

Oh noSad so terribly sad. Mum and I used to nearly wet ourselves laughing when she did her funny songs. My Mum died a few years ago and I still shed a tear when I watch Victoria Wood clips. Another link gone...

KERALA1 · 20/04/2016 16:21

"Release your inner beauty by smearing your gob with overpriced bits of grease"

Inwardly scoff at people sobbing over celebs but she'd a few tears on hearing this.

WillieEckerslike · 20/04/2016 16:22

gleegeekshe was genuinely that funny wasn't she?

Nanny0gg · 20/04/2016 16:23

So sad to read this. Also shedding a tear.

One of the cleverest, funniest comedians out there. Dinnerladies was an underrated joy.

And she was my age Sad

bigTillyMint · 20/04/2016 16:24

YANBU. I feel sad too. She was a part of my youth too.

Pringlesandwine · 20/04/2016 16:24

Another tear shed here. I've grown up laughing along with her.
Flowers

DoreenLethal · 20/04/2016 16:25

I am gutted too. What a loss. I cannot ever watch Dinnerladies too many times. I know every line.
